How come I can't rap?

Two good examples are Lupe and BOB.

Lupe's first two albums were great, critically acclaimed, lyrical masterpieces. Atlantic f*cked him over with his third, Lasers, so the album is half quality music, half poppy rap nonsense. BUT he has been getting much more radio airplay and notice from this album.

BOB's old mixtapes were fantastic, but his record label also f*cked him over with his album, although some of the stuff on there is underrated and fantastic. But again, because of the pop/rap songs, he's much more well known than he was originally.

Seriously though, if you practice freestyling a lot, you can get good at it.

In high school, I would freestyle non stop for hours at a time while fishing, doing chores, before bed, etc. Got better and better, and now I can freestyle without missing a beat for a pretty good amount of time.

True story man. Do it.

What were the titles to the freestyles?

Doin' the Dishes, Bitches

Washin Clothes Like Ho's

Sittin on my Bed So Lonely (R&B thrown in there for good measure)

Totally agree....I may sound like a snob or an elitist..but I refuse to listen to Charlotte radio anymore..97 % of the music they play sucks. If that's all you listen to and think music nowadays sucks bawls..that's the reason why

Pandora and XM radio have opened up my eyes in music in the last 5 years..there is so much good stuff out there, it's unreal

"I want to go-o-o all the way-ay-ay"

That has to be the worse reason I have ever seen

How so? Most rap I've heard sounds like some form of tribal music with nothing but drums and bass with occasional synthesizers that sound awful. Or they steal a tune from another artist. They also come off as illiterate, violent, misogynistic and vulgar.

I'd say pornography is closer to art.

It's all subjective when it comes to the arts. I hate all rap and hip hop music because I like certain instruments and appreciate the English language. Similarly I hate all country music because of the boring string arrangements and the lyrical content.

I've had much better experiences with rock music and couldn't care less about any other form of music. I feel the foundation of hip hop and rap is very weak and I don't imagine much value could come from it. Even if it did, I still don't like the style of music.

Also you compare the two in a way that simply isn't accurate, imo. If you were to ask a random person to name Rock stars, they would likely name great performers like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, The Who, etc. Ask me to name rap artists and I'd say 50 cent, Jay Z, M&M. Once again I'm being subjective, but the popular rock acts are so much better to me.

Also I would say popular rock music was quite good up until he 2000s. The grunge and alternative movements produced some highly respected groups. Sure there is always crap to sift through but that stuff doesn't overshadow the quality music in rock. I don't dislike Creed but I notice they get bashed a lot on the tubes so I'll use them as an example. Creed doesn't overshadow Radiohead or Pearl Jam. If there is any decent hip hop I haven't so much as seen or heard a glimpse of it.

this is a perfect example of someone who cannot step outside of his bias and give a well-rounded opinion..

signs you may not know what the f**k you are talking about:

if you don't understand this, you don't understand english:

You always make generalizations, which is why you are an annoying poster. Its obvious that you don't want to like rap, which is why none of your posts are surprising. You're stuck in your own little stale ass world.

    • The OP for one. Asserting that people blamed Bryce for the loss in the title of the thread. That was not the prevailing sentiment at the time this thread was created. Very much a minority thing, I don’t remember but maybe one person if that, putting it on Bryce as the main reason. Troll thread. Did a good job too. Look at the pages.  Someone counting up the draft picks as 10 on offense and 10 on defense or whatever the number was, today or yesterday - of which the offensive ones were heavily 1s and 2s and the defensive picks were heavily day 3 and declaring that proof that the offense wasn’t favored like people claim. The obvious neglect we watched for two years. I spent time refuting that bullshit because someone needed to.  People saying we are bad horrible people and hate poor lil Bryce for no reason, as if it is a personal thing. Constantly.   Along the same lines is people saying we non Bryce fans would rather lose than have him play well and the team wins. That we are mad when the team wins   Point illustrated.
    • Might not have been in this specific thread... As far as the other, I'm not necessarily reading every post that isn't responding to me so I don't think I saw that. Mind you, we've certainly seen the "not a real fan" stuff on here before.
