My observations of Cam Newton's game

Semantics. Olsen did, in fact, fall. Whether he slid or not.

But, that's not the point. The pass was a really nice one. It was away from the DBs, it was a frozen rope, and it was put where it had to be to not get intercepted. Olsen made a good catch, by being where he needed to be to catch the ball.

I would say that Olsen will be the best player on our offense this year.

How can you say it was a good throw when he had an easy TD but the throw prevented that. That throw was -4 points?

Sure it avoided an interception by the defenders that were no where around but it prevented an easy touchdown.

There was 1 DB in the screen and Olsen had him beat by two steps.

I haven't made a post about Moore in the Panthers forum since he left...please try again.

I'm still waiting for someone to refute my analysis, did he not bounce it to Naanee? Did he not throw off his back foot and miss Barnidge on an out and Armanti on the post on back to back throws?

For a person so obsessed with baiting folks into silly Cam Newton debates, only to claim we're wrong when we don't agree with u, ur funny.

Invite us into ur sandbox to play but always want to dictate and control our viewpoint. Plan on being a Cult Leader anytime soon?lol

I don't think a long, drawn out argument, disagreement, or analysis needs to occur to know that Cam didn't play perfectly.

Having said that, it is blatantly obvious that the kid did well, has potential, and will continue to work on his techniques. What we saw out of Cam isn't his best game he has. This was his FIRST real NFL game experience. Given that alone, I think it is hard to say negative things about him right now.

People can nitpick every single throw or decision he made, point out every error, but in the grande scheme of 1 preseason game, it kind of sounds foolish.

Lies I say! Cam Newton is a finished product and this is as good as he's ever going to get. That one preseason game proves it!

Ok on this one you are knit-picking TRD, Cam threw the ball right where he had to, and trusted his TE to make the play. The safety was closing in fast and he placed it where only Olsen could make a great play and catch it. If he threw that one to the numbers, it would have been deflected at best and picked at worst.

Deflected or picked by who? No one, literally no one was in position to make a play on that ball, not the safety, not the corner, no one. By NFL standards he was WIDE OPEN and it should have been an easy 6.

Rewatch the video. I'll post some screencaps later, about to go on a run, but there is absolutely no way anyone makes a play on that ball no matter where it's thrown.

He threw himself out of a TD, no way around it.

You mean the same DB that touched Olsen down as soon as he caught the ball?

I tried to give the most objectionable opinion of Cam that I could, and yet, you tried to nit-pick that as much as possible? Please, troll harder.

So you think he played well, despite his lack of accuracy, footwork, ability to score a TD, etc?

Lack of accuracy? Bit of a stretch. He had 1 throw where I was like "wtf?" and that was the throw behind Goodson that fell incomplete. Outside of that, the throwing off his back foot issue is a mental error. Throwing off his back foot caused an inaccurate pass, yes, but the ball didn't sail DUE to him being inaccurate overall. And even so, he just barely missed Armanti. That is something that can be coached up and fixed. No worries.

Overall, hell yeah, he played great...for a rookie. Put him beside a 10 year vet, he looked subpar. Put him out there with OUR QBs, looks damn good. Put him out there with purely backups? Looks damn good. His ability to score a TD is just a snide remark. His two shots into the endzone were not bad throws. Just great coverage. If Lafell makes a hard attempt to get out in front of the defender there, it's a TD. Pure and simple.

It's not just my opinion. It is current and retired NFL coaches. You know, guys who get paid to analyze talent. Further more, one won a Super Bowl as a head coach. Again, his opinion > yours. Your entire argument is built on your hatred of Cam. You've done nothing since we drafted him but nitpick the guy and try to find every issue with him possible. Then, when we all tell you that you're sounding like a teenager who stays in mommy's basement, you get mad and say we're not being rational or realistic, even when our sentiments of the game match those of people who know more about football than any of us.

I'm not saying Cam was perfect. I am not saying, in a general sense, that he played great. For a rookie, in his first game in the NFL, he looked good and I was very pleased. That is all.

Do you think he played poorly?

Absolutely.

He had two completions past the line of scrimmage and they were both poor throws to wide open receivers.

He missed other wide open receivers and threw some balls that made me go WTF.

He had one good throw to note and that's it. He didn't avoid sacks like he should have for being bigger and badder than anyone on the field.

He looked like a project.

Avoiding sacks? Really? I distinctly remember him avoiding one and the minute he did, he was hit. Being outnumbered in the backfield at the snap of the ball does not mean you suck when you get sacked. It means your backup OL sucks.

He didn't throw as many bad balls as you think. Your pure hatred is blinding you. Please, see a therapist. I am just worried about you.

Sincerely,

A Friend. :)

You mean those two defenders beside of Olsen?

The safety is 6 yards away when Olsen falls down. The guys falls on top of him.

You think if he's standing that ball is intercepted or knocked down?

This isn't college. A yard of space is wide open and he had plenty of it
