The 3 Best Newton Moments

Ultimately, he played about as well as i expected. Showed some flash, while also showing why teams often blitz rookie QB's. Made some nice passes and equally as many as bad passes. I did notice that after the first drive, where there was a lot of presnap motion, but the next two under center were not as successful. The Giants expected that bootleg to the right and got a sack and then also on next possession got one, which kinda like a reality check to show him the ups and downs of only minutes in an nfl game.

The good thing about Cam is that he will always keep the defense uncomfortable and will create plays where his receivers can get good gains after the catch. I think he is well ahead of Vick as a passer when he entered the league, and with better talent around him, in time can lead this offense to high productivity.

That is the armanti play, defense is in cover 1 with a high saftey. We start out in trips left with the safety lined up directly over the inside receiver and armanti in the middle of the trips. We run a 998, streak, streak, post/drag combo.

Corner takes the outside guy and is on teh sideline covering. Safety follows the inside guy across the field towards the middle taking himself out of the play.

Armanti is 1 on 1 with the linebacker/nickel. He beats him easily and has no reason to settle because there is no one over the top. Once the ball is thrown, the safety starts coming over. If he leads him, it's a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE gain, possible TD

I expect some throws will open up for him as he begins running more...but that's besides the point.

Do you not see #34 and Edwards sat in the zone.

34 is the safety, covering a completely different receiver when the ball is thrown, that's why he's running completely sideways to try and get to the ball.

If he was over the top, he'd be running downhill at Armanti.

Have you ever watched a football game before?

I'm just going to stop anwsering you because I see what your doing. You are a troll I hope Matt moore well but i wish you would go with him. I see you have hurt feelings and you can't find a different way to deal with it.

I will go with the national writer opinion and just leave your( MB GM who is butt hurt because his favorite player didn't get sign back) Opinion in the same catagory with the rest of the useless info that come from the bleacherreport.

Newton was far from perfect, but he didn’t have any disastrous plays like Clausen’s interception. He never looked lost and he also flashed big-play ability. The numbers (8-of-19 for 134 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions) weren’t spectacular, but there were memorable strong throws to Olsen and Armanti Edwards.

There were several times when Newton made good throws that were disrupted by good coverage. But keep in mind that Newton was playing with second- and third-team wide receivers, who had trouble getting separation from defensive backs, and Edwards didn’t help when he failed to hold onto a nice pass from Newton in the third quarter.

Give Newton a healthy Steve Smith, who sat out with an injured finger, and the results might have been spectacular. Newton, who played into the fourth quarter, didn’t have the luxury of playing with running backs Williams and Jonathan Stewart, and played behind backups on the offensive line.

You've practically posted the same poo for a good 5 pages now, we get your opinion, you don't have to jam it down our throats, i'm pretty sure everyone here knows how to read so i think we got your point. You think Cam Newton was a terrible pick and is going to be a vince young type qb. You obviously have ridiculous expectations for every one of his throws to be perfect. Did you watch peyton his rookie season? He wasn't as good as he is now, it's going to be the same way for cam i guarantee it, ever heard of growing pains? He's been in training camp shorter than any other #1 pick qb picked up, and for how long he's had it, i think your expectations are too high. At least he's hitting the receivers and not throwing picks. The receivers dropped about 3 last night, 2 to lafell in the endzone and 1 to armanti. All i'm saying is the positives outweigh the negatives IMO.

Yeah, that's all good and dandy, he was playing against reserves too.

I gave credit to him on the Armanti drop, best ball he's thrown.

You'll listen to the national writers that everyone claims know nothing about the Panthers and we have a thread a week bitching about their reporting?

You really showed me.

I don't have high expectations, I just don't want to crown him yet when others do.

The two to LaFell weren't drops. The first was good defense on a well thrown ball and the second was low when there was no need for it to be low.

If you guys don't want to read his post y'all really should just block him instead of bitching about it.

TRD I agree with you on the Olsen throw, Cam should have lead him for an easy TD. The AE throw looked fine to me, so we disagree there.
