After game 1, what are you concerned about?

I really liked what the D did. I thought CB would be a problem, but they held their own. Even with the lack of a pass rush, the giants couldn't really achieve much offensively. Talking about that, CJ and Hardy should be back soon, so I'm not tooooooooo worried about getting pressure on the QB.

I am most worried about the offence. Gross playing like that is just no good. 3rd downs were horrible, but I think that's because no one's stepping up at WR. It's hard to throw for a 1st down when nobody's getting open. Those guys better learn how to seperate.

I think I read somewhere that Johnson did play something like 90% of snaps last year. Hardy will start, in my opinion, but still rotate out on occasion and slide in at DT on long passing downs, probably. I'm not concerned about the DEs yet. If Brown and Norwood were our starters, then I'd be concerned.

The way you wrote the 2nd sentence sounds like you think Hardy will slide in at DT on passing downs? Did you mean Johnson?

Really, then why play them? You seemed to have gathered a lot of information from what you saw, right?

Repititions and practice. Opportunities to see who your second, third and fourth stringers are going to be and how they play in game day situations. Ability to try new plays and see what works.

Since you put in the starters for only a quarter or so, the outcome of preseason games(other than the third one to some extent) is more related to who has the best scrubs rather than who has the best starters (which is what will matter in the regular season).

concerns don't have to be worries. worries will come naturally as more snaps happen and wins and losses start to add up. that being said-

concerns after watching defense

1. penalties on the defense once the referees actually begin to throw flags.

2. linebackers' performance in coverage

3. consistency of young d-line talent when asked to play 50+ snaps

4. overall defense's ability to physically respond with swarming, tackling against 30+carries of power running game

5. not very many tests of short-yardage/goal line in preseason game 1, particularly run d

offense

1. clausen's accuracy, maybe increase his football iq 50 points when in "make it stop, make it stop" panic mode

2. goodson has a "thing" with fumbles

3. fiammetta learning how to budget his big thud impacts so he doesn't get more concussions

4. duke robinson possibly giving up on being a professional football player

5. o-line depth and communication with QB in pass pro

6. consistency when running game is asked to carry the offense

7. that the right WRs are kept in roster cuts (going to be tough and will possibly reveal a big part of staff's philosophy about this season's goals)

8. appropriate focus by lafell when the games matter

9. getting the plays right and running the right routes, especially for timing throws

continued issues from players held over from last season

1. communication in the secondary when audibles are in play for the opposing offense

2. red zone pass defense

3. nagging injuries, and getting starters on the field, keeping them there

4. pass protection if the QB is going to be holding the ball a tick too long or being oblivious to the integrity of the pocket

5. so many young players playing significant roles. hopefully general consistency will come with familiarity with the system and more reps

So what aren't you concerned about. Seems that would be a much shorter list, LOL.

definitely a much shorter list, but then again it's the 2nd preseason game week, so everything is a work in progress. hopefully that list will shrink steadily as the season goes on.
