Darin Gantt(TSN)-Opening statement: Newton lacks accuracy but flashes downfield magic

Notice that these writers eyes were glues on Cam. Notice none mentioned the drops by the OL..Nope every ball Cam throws has got to land in a receiver's hand or it's his fault.

How else to weaken a person than to pull a "Barnum Effect" on everything he does. Believing is definitely seeing when it comes to Cam.

Where are these writers bashing Cam? I guess if they did not gush over his "OK" performance that they are just hating.

They saw the same game that I did. The one where Cam showed glimpses of how good he can (and probably will) be.....but also showed the inconsistency of a rookie QB.

I don't recall people harping on Jake's erratic throws this much. About 90% of the time Jake threw the ball down field it was inaccurate, but Smitty was able to go up and make the play. I mean seriously, how many times have Jake hit Smitty in stride, outside of the overtime game in St. Louis?

It's gotten to the point, where we've got people like TRD breaking down whether or not Cam's completions were accurate. Not to many QB's in the league would've been able to even make that throw to Olsen, so who cares whether or not Olsen had to slide/fall to catch it. This isn't a knock against Clausen, but if he was in the game that pass would've never seen the light of day.

I'm with Proudiddy, I felt like there was only about 2 of Cam's incompletions I would chalk up to Cam's inaccuracy problems.

1. The quick slant to Goody

2. The dirt ball to Naanee

The others, including the Armanti end zone pass, I put on pressure or good coverage. The Giants sent 6 on that play, again if that was Clausen, he would've been in the fetal position, and that pass wouldn't have even been thrown.

What folks like TRD and many of these sports writers are doing is what they call in Psychology, the "Barnum Effect." By continually critizing everything Cam does they hope to have him appear "strange and weird." And in turn believe that picking him at number one was wrong. Instead of going to see him just play and help the Panthers win, you will go to see if what is continually being said and written about him is true.

They will continue to convince you to see things their way by over exaggerating everything about Cam's supposed flaws and use commonly used buzz words to add some familarity. Hence the saying "a sucker is born every second."

P.T. Barnum understood how the human mind worked and made millions convincing folks that "believing is see." TRD and many in the sports media are doing the same thing with Cam. They don't want you to get caught up in his talent and what he can do for the team. They want you to go looking for something about Cam to add to the "weirdness" of him. They want you to believe what u see based on what they said.

Maybe it's time to find that healthy balance between folks like TRD and those who are being called "Huggers."

Sorry, I watched the game also. Cam played well. Both him and Jimmy made some mistakes with throwing the ball. Don't see why there is so many threads about Cam's accuracy when the only thing that seperated him from Jimmy was a TD.

You know the sports media obsession has been taken to a level of sickness when writers are not only quoting ther writers who are breaking down Cam's preseason game but the fact that his preseason game is even being broken down in the first place is share halarious. But I guess not to folks like you. Cause you need to know every ounce of flaw that Cam has commited and not whether he can win games or not for the Panther.

It's clear many of you folks along with the media won't rest until you've turned Cam into VY or JaMarcus since he was already being preceived to be just like them. As a writer stated...

There are mature fans who are inquisitive about the perception vs. reality, and the immature ones who made their decision about Newton months ago and will yell, scream and hold their breath until they are validated.
The question is, where does the reality end and preception begins?

It's funny you bring that up and it's actually makes you look bad.

Most people here have already crowned him and only a few are wait and see.

You've made your mind up and won't let any other opinion be heard.

Sorry that u preceive my desire not to see Cam in your light as already making up my mind. It's clear u have done the same since you are the one running around trying to prove ur viewpoint as insight direcly from God.

Dude, you made your mind up about Cam months before he was even drafted, so there's nothing Cam can do to prove you wrong. The sooner you really that you won't be able to push your views off on everyone else, the huddle will be a better place.
