Jimmy Clausen

I was at the game. You didn't se that pick six? You didn't see him hold the ball too long? You didn't see him hold the ball too long and hit the usual checkdown? You didn't see him try to scramble for the first on third down slow as hell and slide like 3 yards short? The throw away was a good decision. The td was a good pass and the first pass of the game was good. That was it. What game were you watching is the question. I only had one beer and was sober maybe that's the problem.

Actually it wasn't a good pass. Olsen had to stop, turn and reach behind him to catch it. However, if the ball would have been placed properly, it would have most likely been a pick.

Exactly, it was a solid pass, but a better catch.

Correction, first sack was a solid combination of poor pocket awareness, and shi*ty O-line play.

Also, let's not get my main point mistaken. Both QB's looked solid, however, there are no clear cut winners in this QB battle, and Cam just brings more to the table.

Ok, I will accept a correction on the first JC sack. But not in the way you described it. It was completely shitty OL play. I barely get to a 3 second count when JC is mauled by two DL. Wharton never does take outside contain until after he sees Gross run by him trying to block Paul. JC is loaded to throw within the 3 second time frame but is already being sacked. What makes this exceptionally worse is that the NYG's rushed 4 with no stunts, no twists, no nothing. Just straight getting to the QB.

So, JC put it in the only place that it could have possibly been caught for a TD but not in a position to be a INT.

LOL that a good pass for you in that situation would have been an INT.

It was a TD because Olsen is the fuggin man. I'm not sure if very many of our players would have made the adjustment that Olsen made. That was a bad pass that worked out.

The thing is that it was THE ONLY pass, anywhere else that he would have put it would not have worked. So you say, "it was a bad pass". Fine, whatever, but if JC would have put it in front of Olsen, to the left, right, or higher, it would have been a drop/INT. Sounds like a damn good pass to me.

Yeah, it took some great hands by Olsen, but that is why we brought him in here.

To Clausen's credit, I thought it was a bad pass and a great adjustment when it happened... Then again on the replay...

Then a few hours after the game, I saw it again and thought, "What if he meant to throw it to the outside like that?" Kind of like your taught to throw to that back shoulder on the fade...

Problem is, from what we saw and came to expect from Jimmy last year, we assume he didn't mean to place it there - mainly because we never saw evidence that he did it before.

Could be he meant to do it, maybe not... Great play by Olsen regardless, and who knows, maybe Jimmy did mean to put it there b/c there was a lot of traffic in the middle. The bottom line is, we got to give Jimmy credit for making the right read in that situation and getting the pass off - which he wouldn't have done last year.

It's hard to argue about something like that when we don't know what his intention was, so in that case, it's pretty subjective.

Exactly.........

Maybe it was a bad throw, if it was, then it was a great bad throw.

However, because it benefits the team and the organization, I want to believe that JC is progressing and is seeing the openings and is getting better at being a NFL level QB.

Call me a JC nut hugger if you want, but I'm not going to give up on him until he completely shuts it down and really starts fuging up. Is he as gifted as Cam, no way in hell. Does he have a chance to be a really good QB, I hope so.

Haha! I went through that same analysis! If it'd been Brady or Manning, well, of course, but it's...

Possibly dumb luck, but I agree, let's give it to Jimmy.

Clausen was the best QB in a Panthers uniform last night.

Newton showed flashes, but if he continues to throw lobs off the back foot I will shank him myself.

I'm beginning to feel that some of you are clearly setting the bar for Clausen very low; while intentionally setting the bar ridiculous high for Cam so you can then give Clausen the edge but who are we kidding.

Clausen and Cam played about the same last night but I will give the edge to Cam because he is the rookie and looked way more stronger in the pocket and didn't make any really silly mistakes.

Clause redeem himself after the interception, which showed good ability to bounce back but he did cause the other team to score thanks to the interception that many are trying to claim isn't his fault.

Why are we trying to downplay that while sitting there all turning grey haired over Cam's footworks. Did the not so perfect footwork cause any damage to the team?

Cam is considered better then Jimmy no? Also, we are going to put more pressure on him because he was the number one pick.

And that interception wasn't all Jimmy's fault, Williams could have turned and caught the pass or even bat it away. Heck, I make that play all the time when me and my friends are playing football.
