Jimmy Clausen

Deangelo should have turned his head to check the situation in the pocket when he first left the backfield. As the outlet reciever you have to be ready right away. Jimmy threw a shitty pass though. However, Bernadeau got tangled up in Kalil because he was completely oblivious that allowed the NYG's to get to Jimmy. Which was the root cause of the INT.

The first sack on Clausen, that was some shitty pass protection by Gross. He allowed Paul to suck him inside and that left the outside route to the QB wide open. In Gross' defense though, Wharton was basically doing an audition for "So you think you can Dance".

I liked the TD throw. He threaded the needle and put the ball in the only place it could go. Mostly, it was good to see Clausen take the risk of the throw. I don't think that he would have attempted that throw last year at all.

Jimmy has work to do, no doubt. He has progressed by leaps and bounds though. If he can carry his limited play tonight for an entire game and keep progressing, I think he can be a decent to good QB this year. If nothing else, I think its good to know that the Panthers have a back-up QB that isn't complete poo.

I want jimmy to be successful just as much as I want cam to be, bit jimmy looked just like last years jimmy. I don't know how it looked on tv, but I was there tonight and he looked horrible besides a few throws. Just nervousness, taking too long to throw, checkdown king, scramble with no real chance of a first. I hope he gets better I really do. He did have a nice td though he also threw one for the giants. It is what it was.*shrugs*

What game were you watching? Besides holding on to the ball on a few times, I saw none of this.

I think most sane people will admit that Jimmy looked better tonight than last year. That int was mostly a product of a new system and players getting adjusted to playing again. The one thing I think Jimmy has over Cam right now is accuracy. Even though I don't think Jimmy is stellar there, Cam looked kind of bleh with regards to accuracy. Of course he's a rookie so his timing isn't there yet. But my does Cam have a rocket for an arm or what? It's pretty easy to see that barring injuries Cam will be a star...just don't think it will be this year.

He did look better than last year no doubt. The throw to LaFell that got called back for illegal touching, the first throw to LaFell for a big gain, and the throw to Olsen were 3 throws he would've never made last year... Probably wouldn't have even attempted.

Still, Cam looked like the better QB IMO, and I don't see how anyone would see any different.

Cam looks much more poised and Jimmy still looked really anxious in the pocket. Cam never seemed to make a bad play... He threw a few throws inaccurately, but never seemed to make a bad play or decision. As a QB, you're gonna miss on some throws, so that's expected.

But Jimmy did still make a bad play, horrible in fact, with the pick 6 throw. Also the lob to the flat that almost got someone killed. He holds onto the ball way too long still and his pocket awareness, as well as his situational awareness is still really bad.

But, regardless, that was still miles ahead of his performance last year and it's great to see him making progress. Cam still outperformed him and I expect him to be given the shot with the starters next week, but it can only be good for Jimmy to show he's getting better for our organization. So good job! (but can't let go that the pick 6 should've never been thrown, lol)

I was at the game. You didn't se that pick six? You didn't see him hold the ball too long? You didn't see him hold the ball too long and hit the usual checkdown? You didn't see him try to scramble for the first on third down slow as hell and slide like 3 yards short? The throw away was a good decision. The td was a good pass and the first pass of the game was good. That was it. What game were you watching is the question. I only had one beer and was sober maybe that's the problem.
