I agree....but I think if he starts 16 games he could be great in moments right away. Do we have the team around him to compete the rest of the time? I think it is possible......

I do think he would have moments of greatness if he starts right away. However, he will have just as many (if not more) bonehead rookie mistakes.

He is a gun slinger type of QB (with limited college experience in the passing game and from a spread offense) that is still learning the NFL style game. He is going to make a ton of mistakes.....but he has shown that he will learn from them.

I just see more of a Josh Freeman type of rookie season (flashes of greatness thrown in with 4-5 int games) more than I do a Matt Ryan rookie season.

However, given Josh's second year success, it may be worth going through another season with less than 5 wins to get there.

well Clausen looked poised in the pre-season game vs. the Giants, BUT last year he had NO poise at all, but so far both looked poised. to come back and throw a TD after a pick six showed poise.

He did?

Maybe when the O-line gave him minutes to chuck the ball.

When there was pressure, there was no poise.

I agree completely.

I just think Cam IF he is gonna be good will progress fairly quick. I just think you might as well let him figure it out early. He looks like he will be able to hold his own well enough and looks good to enough to face the fire......Clausen never was poised enough to be tested. Still not sure he is.

what are you talking about??? last year or the pre season game??? in the preseason game he had time to throw it, but none of the WRs could get open, but when his WRs got open he had some nice throws. he threw a TD pass to Olsen and a good stike to LaFell. NOW if you are discussing last year than yes, he was NOT poised at all.

go back and re-watch the play. It was an underthrown ball that Armanti had to stop and wait on. It was not a great throw.

Honestly, I think both QB's had 2-3 good throws. The rest were nothing great.

Like I have said in other posts.....I am not criticizing Cam. I thought he had a nice game for his first NFL game. He had some great flashes....but made many rookie mistakes. I think he is going to be very good. He has the tools...it is very apparent that he has the work ethic...but it will take time.

I am not a hater just because I can clearly see that his performance was NOT outstanding and that he is NOT there yet.

People are praising Cam and bashing JC...when their performances were comparable on Sat night.

Both guys looked the same but considering one is a rook and the other has 10 plus games under his belt who you think is going to get the nod. I seen the play plus it's a corner to the outside, with safety help coming up top so he could not lead him by much.

:nonod:

Jimmy doesn't know how to step up into the pocket. He steps away from it at full speed.

I'm not sure it would be fair to say Clausen got experience last year in Fox's dont give a sh*t campaign. I don't think any QB would have really stood a chance last year with all the problems the o-line had and the serious lack of receiver performance coupled with Fox.

You can't thow someone into a septic tank and be suprised when they come out smelling like sh*t.

Cam looks like Vick in Atlanta right now and that's a scary thought and not in a good way IMO.

Clausen looks like a deer in the headlights who's about to realize he's going to get run over.

They both have a long way to go before they are quality starting QBs. 3 more preseason games should show who is going to get it in with this offense and who won't and who's going to get the chance.

I think Clausen gets the starting job, replaced by Newton 8 games into the season unless he's blowing the roof off.

I don't really think either gets the nod right now. That will be decided in the next couple of preseason games and weeks of practice.
