Jimmy Clausen

Neither Clausen nor Armanti were pieces to play Foxball with.....they were both drafted for another coach to use. Fox basically said, ok.....

QB play was a joke. If Fox was allowed to of gotten a QB as a backup plan for Moore....he would have been in the mix for a .500 season w/ the talent he had on his roster. Horrible QB play killed the team.....b/c everyone knew Fox was going to play Foxball. Jerry put the bad marriage together and was willing to ride it out.

No one quit on Fox and that was very clear. His team still played hard for him until the end.....only ones claiming Fox wasn't coaching them are the glaring draft choices that Jerry drafted for another coach to use.

include also players being put on IR when they could have made it back to the field.. and last year isn't something I'm going to base a lot of my opinions on..

which is why when someone said that they should pimp Clausen up to trade him to Denver, i said nope. why would Fox and Elway trade for a guy in Clausen who Fox didnt want???? he wouldnt. would he trade for Goodson, yes, would he sign Sutton, yes. would he sign Delhomme if he traded Orton away, yes, but will he trade for a guy he didnt want, no. that is also why i think The Golden Calf of Bristol has little chance in Denver. Fox seems to like Orton which is bad for The Golden Calf of Bristol, he might as well get ready to leave Denver.

and how horrific Jimmy has been in the past vs. his very average showing on Sat IMO also skews how well Jimmy did in reality.

He made 2 good NFL throws by my count Sat.....with that he still doesn't have a good sense of pressure nor does he react well to it. I don't think he was better than Cam. Not saying Cam was that much better than Jimmy....only by the slightest edge.

Cam didn't get a TD but his 2 throws into the endzone were better/tougher throws than Clausen's one throw into the endzone IMO. Cam had great coverage on one and a WR did do his end of the bargain on the other........Jimmy simply hasn't shown he can make those type throws. He is to slow to react and can't get it out quick enough to strike like that.

sorry dude, but you are way off base.

Clausen's performance last night was every bit as good as Cam's.

You are bashing JC, yet touting how great Cam was. You can't have it both ways.

Both played average.

JC threw a beautiful pass to LaFell to start the game.

The "great" pass that you refer to where Cam threw to Edwards was an underthrown deep ball to a wide open WR on a busted coverage play. Go back and watch the replay. It was NOT a beautiful pass. If it had been, it would have been a TD.

Damn...your blind homerism is amusing.

if cam would have lead edwards anymore you do realize that the safety playing up top would have destroyed him right? JC had two good passes, and that pick 6 was ugly. il give him props for improving but he is far from being decent.

like i said, both were pretty good, not good, not great, not bad. Clausen scored a TD after a pick 6, something he was unable to do all of last year it seemed. and Newton looked like he's played in the NFL before, so all in all, like i said, a draw between the two. Newton will likely start vs. Miami to see how he handles starting.

go back and re-watch the play. It was an underthrown ball that Armanti had to stop and wait on. It was not a great throw.

Honestly, I think both QB's had 2-3 good throws. The rest were nothing great.

Like I have said in other posts.....I am not criticizing Cam. I thought he had a nice game for his first NFL game. He had some great flashes....but made many rookie mistakes. I think he is going to be very good. He has the tools...it is very apparent that he has the work ethic...but it will take time.

I am not a hater just because I can clearly see that his performance was NOT outstanding and that he is NOT there yet.

People are praising Cam and bashing JC...when their performances were comparable on Sat night.

Poise.

That's the difference in the two.

Jimmy plays like a scared kid. There is no way we will have any success with him taking off and throwing at the stands at the slightest pressure.

Newton is a rookie, and laughed after he got sacked. He actually dodged people trying to sack him and stayed in the pocket. If his receivers can get their hands dry and hold on to a few balls, we would have been 27-10 at the end of that game.

I can't say I blame Jimmy though... he's shell-shocked. He's not a big guy, and he took a ton of sacks last year. I said it before, and I'll say it again... he's been David Carr'ed.

debatable....could argue AE more less found the hole in the coverage and could of been slowing to "sit" in it.......lead him more on that play and it increaes the the shot the S has at making a big hit on AE vs giving him the room to work his magic.

but I agree there performances were comparable......but I think if you get comparable performances that gives Cam the edge b/c he also bring huge big play potential Clausen doesn't have in the tank.

I agree with you about the tie goes to Cam.

I personally want to see what DA can do with the first team. I still think he might be the safest decision to start the season...giving Cam a little more time to learn and develop.

I agree with you about Cam's demeanor. However, that is also a dangerous think when you add it to the inexperience of being a rookie QB. Cam WILL take many more chances when he is in there.....and in many regular season games, that will equate to 3-4 interceptions.

I wish Clausen would take more chances....and Cam take fewer.

true.

but also, there just seems to be a gameday quality about Cam. Always has had that.....he practice something a 1000 times and give you a mixed bag of results but when the bright lights come on......some players just have that unknown quality where they shine then.

maybe it is pressure aiding....I don't know

well Clausen looked poised in the pre-season game vs. the Giants, BUT last year he had NO poise at all, but so far both looked poised. to come back and throw a TD after a pick six showed poise.

Cam definitely looked the part. The way he carried himself, etc. was of an NFL QB.

I think he can be GREAT. I just also believe it will take time. And by time, I mean more than a game or two. I mean a season or two.

I agree....but I think if he starts 16 games he could be great in moments right away. Do we have the team around him to compete the rest of the time? I think it is possible......
