Jimmy Clausen

I'm not that's, that's what is so amusing.

I'll take a QB with the rating of 91 and 10 yard average over the QB with a 67QB rating and a 7 yard average. The one with the 91 rating didn't quite have a full quarter's work either.

I like both QBs but stats don't lie and...fug John Fox, stats aren't for losers.

Stats never tell the real story of how a QB played......too many variables at play

True.

But Cam went 62 yards in his first NFL drive.....throwing for 40. he was able to move the O all the way down the field in 3 minutes and 30 seconds........fact remains Clausen simply has never moved the O like that before.

Gotta give Cam some credit for what occurred the little time he got with the starters.

He did very well on that drive. He was extremely average after that though. I think he did well in his debut. I'm just picking with the Camsters who won't admit Jimmy actually had the better OVERALL outing. I'm not routing agianst Cam, but I want Jimmy to outplay Cam just one more time to watch these guys squirm.

You've never used stats in an argument about Clausen?

But I agree it's not worth horsetrading stats with these guys. Both had some ups and downs. I was impressed by a few of Cam's drives. Did he do enough to become the outright starter from this point forward? Well, he was given the opportunity and I'm pretty sure it didn't happen. Three to four scores on seven drives and Jimmy would already be out of the picture. So let's leave it at they both had ups and downs and see how things go for round 2.

Again, you have account for the fact that after that he got scrubs in at the OL....and IMO then he started showing more bad habits.

I don't think Jimmy had a better outing. They overall were probably equally impressive. I think most give Cam a bump bc he did it on 2 weeks of camp.....and that just never happens bc normally rookies have more time.

Cam was better in the pocket and was better at dealing with pressure which I think ultimately gave him the edge. As I noted in another thread.....if you read the game day thread from the Giant fans perspective on their board they clearly gave the edge to Cam.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there. The only way stats lie is if you tweek the bias or the sampling. Taken at face value with no bias or sampling error, stats are facts that is up to the reader for interpretation.

a QB can have3 picks and not make a bad throw all game.

A QB can play like complete garbage and have a higher QB rating than one who picks a team apart.

Stat sheets don't always tell reality of how a QB performed.

There was backups in on both sides. In theory he should have been able to pick apart the Giants reserves. He did well, the whole two weeks thing is belonga because Jimmy's new to the system too. Granted Jimmy played last year, but agruably has MORE to prove than Cam, giving Jimmy the larger burden. Lastly, fan's insight on other boards is fine, but I doubt they scrutinized our QBs play as much as we did.

i agree, i never put a performance on JUST stats. example. people liked Anderson and some think he should or may start, but i didnt like his game. he had a TD, but it was a throw that almost all QBs can make. Stats dont always tell the story, i look at a combination of things which do include stats, balls that were flat out dropped, pocket pressence and other things.

1) He had 3 picks, so he had at least three bad throws.

2) Higher QB rating yes, but acceptable? 50 is higher that 45, but both suck.

Again up to the interpretation of the reader.

Backup OL isn't going to provide the same protection as the starting OL even if the blitzers are 2nd string IMO.

All in all, with what Cam did in 2 weeks of prep it indicates he should quickly surpass Clausen....even if you give Clausen the edge on Sat.
