Cams passing observations

so he's less than 67% accurate?

Why is that a bad thing? ~65% is a good completion percentage.

Sometimes he just needs to have the right momentum on the correct foot. But I guess if he can produce while throwing off his back foot than more power to him.

I'm ready to re watch by myself. Didn't really have time to get into every throw the both of them made.

I thought Clausens pick 6 was not all his fault. IMO that's an issue with timing.

Cam I thought needed a little work on his accuracy. The 3rd down throw into the dirt was pretty bad.

Again, I will need to look at them again tonight, but that was just my first instinct.

I'll attribute 66% accuracy to him when he actually completes 66% of his passes. til then it's just fictional numbers regarding a preseason game.

So that's fine. Do you acknowledge the fact tha he had 5+ passes dropped that hit his wrs in their hands?

Cam didn't throw a pick 6 either.

yet.... he will. all rookies do.

overall i feel he did well. he could beat out clausen by week 3. he needs time with the first team against a first team defense. he'll likely get that next week.

i thought DA looked good with the 3rd team as well. Jimmy could end up the #3 by week 1 if he doesn't pick it up.

Olsen was an amazing pick up for us this off season. He looked like a little, "Gates Jr" out there.

Also there was one that was a timing route on a comeback by the WR but the WR was held so Cam ended up throwing the ball to no one even though the ball was around where it was supposed to be if the CB didn't have a handful of our WR's jersey.

The refs let a lot of stuff go between the WRs and CBs

One thing that we really overlook about came is his ability to take care of the ball. Yes in Auburn he ran alot more but to have 30 tds and only 7 picks in college is phenomenal. He will be ROY if he starts. Its going to be tough to make a decision whose going to start.

cam stayed in the pocket which is something i didn't expect to see from him this early, his footwork still needs alot of improvement but not bad considering he hasn't had much practice time, have to think if this was a normal off season he would be a lock to start week 1

I saw some good and some bad. He can put some smoke on the ball and put in tight places but he also is still sailing his out routes high. TBH it was a good showing and he drove the ball and thats what matters. Our second string line was poo so it was a good challenge for Newton.

I was impressed with him.

One thing to watch in his development is to see if he can step up in the pocket and deliver the throw down field when the blitz is coming. On back to back throws during that late 2nd quarter drive, he threw off of his back foot and it cost him a touchdown to barnidge and then a touchdown to Edwards.

Yeah, he definitely needs to work on his footwork and keeping his shoulders balanced. He has a tendancy to lean back a little too muich. I'm pretty confident that he will correct those flaws though. IMO, he has already proven that the concerns over his work ethic were unfounded.

From what I've seen he looks great when he has protection. Give him time to throw and I think he can pick you apart. But when he's rushed his mechanics worsen and he throws off his back foot a lot. I think he's a franchise quarterback, but we have to invest in the offensive line to protect him. He may be able to bail himself out occasionally with his feet, but we can't rely on that.

Still up to my expectations... A lot like Roethlisberger.

Our f*cking WRs pissed me off though. Essentially 2 dropped TD passes and then Clowney body catching and Armanti not securing one...

Can't wait to see him out there with a REAL WR unit.

He has Roethlisberger's pocket presence, Favre's arm, and Vick's acceleration and escapability.

There was one roll out play where he dodged the first defender with an incredible move. If that was Jimmy, he would have been speared and would have a broken spine.
