Cams passing observations

Cam did ok today. I see a lot of promise though. He throws very nice passes downfield and some ugly passes. From where I was sitting a few should've been called for defensive pass interference that would put us at the one. He needs work on his short passes. I think hes going to be our starter week 1. He moved the chains better than jimmy if cam struggles I think Anderson might have a shot at the spot. Jimmy?...cmon jimmy.

for what it's worth I was one of the guys with the draft Dareus/Peterson crew and hated the idea of drafting Cam.

I still think he had a good game given the circumstances(rookie, first NFL game ever, didn't have all the starters playing, was somewhat limited because coaches probably didn't want him to scramble or run, etc). He needs to work on not telegraphing his passes though, that allowed defenders to make plays on the ball and it resulted in a lot of broken up passes.

I agree with NCMONZTA. With a few more games under his belt, Cam is going to be awesome. Anderson looked good and will be a great back up, or if Cam starts sucking, will take the number one spot for a while. I hope we get rid of Jimmy for a 3rd round pick if we can.

The recievers dropped quite a few balls with Cam. Even though he missed his targets a few times by trying to bullet the ball to his recievers, Cam kept the ball low and out of the hands of the opponent. I have seen so many interceptions the last couple years that I have ran out of tears.

End of Line.

I think did better than any of the other rookies by far. He looked poised, yea he had maybe 3 or 4 bad throws. But majority of them were right on target. One we didnt even see the whole playbook in tonights game. 2 we didnt even see him scramble once tonight (I bet he could have scored 2 times in the redzone off his running skills alone). Tonight he just wanted to prove he was a accurate passer. He did very well tonight. Give him this preseason and we might have a promising year with this guy.

Although Clausen impressed me, the main difference I saw (and biggest) was just Cam's pocket presence and timing in stepping up and moving around inside it.. He's not supposed to be as "pure" of a quarterback as Jimmy yet he looked like a first pick everytime he dropped back pre-pass. I was thoroughly impressed, the other things can be tweaked but he has a VERY good building foundation.

I came away impressed but, after not knowing what to think going in. He has a much stronger arm than I thought he did, and he put the ball in some good spots. My concerns are the same, throws off the back foot and starring down receivers. All easily correctable though.
