Thinking about 2012 Draft

I think Alshon Jeffery would be the right pick for us.

He could be a true #1 WR down the road, and that's what we're going to need at some point.

Imagine a receiving corps that goes Steve Smith, Alshon Jeffery, and David Gettis, with Greg Olsen at TE. lol.

It's gonna get very annoying listening to all the biased South Carolina fans on this board try to convince us that Alshon is better than Justin Blackmon.

I like both Floyd of ND and Alshon of SC better than Justin Blackmon. Alshon plays with a rocky situation at QB and they need to feed the beast that is Lattimore. Floyd has played with Clausen at QB for two years and he made him look awesome. This past season he put up numbers in a brand new offense despite playing with a QB who had never seen much action, and a Freshman who had to fill in the last four games or so due to injury. The one constant has been Floyd putting up big numbers. The first two years were put up in a pro-style offense.

Defensive end should be a high priority. Greg Hardy has a lot of talent but the entire reason he fell to the sixth round was his inability to stay healthy. And he's currently injured.

Quinton Coples certainly should be at the top of the list, he's a beast. DT is a bigger weakness but overall we can't get ANY pressure on the opposing QB. Coples and Johnson could be deadly, last mock I saw had QC going like 2nd or 3rd though.

DE?! The hell are you guys smoking? We need a CB or a DT first. Preferably a CB first.

It's CB or DT in the first round or don't bother drafting. We are getting killed in the run game and through the air. Fix one of those problems through the draft next year with our 1st round draft choice, It will be a top 10, without a doubt.

I don't really think it's a question. Alshon is dominates the top CB's, with a less friendly pass offense and worse QB situation than Blackmon. Blackmon is fast and outruns mediocre corners but plays with a pass happy OK State offense, he's the overrated one in my opinion.

Mediocre corners like Prince Amukamara?

Uh, we have exactly one viable defensive end on our roster who can stay healthy and pass rushers can help improve pass defense, so yeah, I think end is a big need as well as tackle and corner.

LB blitzing, DE's Hardy, Norwood, Johnson. 3 good DE's that are going to be fine. No interior line push at all. Pressure is created from all sides not just the ends. If a DT can push those lines to make the pocket collapse, those ends should have no problem getting a sack.

Priority is CB, DT, then whatever else.

Hardy can't stay healthy and since when is Norwood a good defensive end? Tackle is an obvious need, but don't kid yourself by saying we have "three good defensive ends" because only Charles Johnson has proven anything.
