Mallett/Gabbert/Cam/Ponder/Locker

he played a little bit vs. first teamers, but mainly the 2nd teamers and who do YOU think had the best rookie QB performance??????

I honestly don't care, but there is pretty much no argument to make that Cam was. You mentioned poise and opposing defences, but you have no quantifiable way of determining this, especially as all QBs spent most of their time against backups.

In games like this, you can only really judge on what the actually do rather than reading into it too much. As it is he had a couple of nice completions, which weren't too difficult throws and the rest was mediocre/average.

It's been one game, but I am yet to see his fabled elusivity in the pocket that was all the rage. He was supposed able to shrug off a rhino...

First off, i just answered a question that was posed to us which is why i had my rankings, NOW this is on ONE game, the rankings will likely change from week to week, but Newton did play a little bit vs. 1st teamers, though it wasnt much i admit. he mainly played 2nd teamers and a little bit vs. 3rd. Mallett just played 2nd/3rd teamers. i think the biggest competition likely came from Locker for the top rookie QB performance in week one of the preseason. As for his elusivity, i am likely one of the few who was glad he didnt run alot. you dont want to give too much away in a preseason game, i expect him to run a little more when he starts in real games.

I think people make too big of a deal over 2nd and 3rd stringers in the preseason. These depth charts are not set in stone, and some of these guys will end up either starting or playing a lot of minutes when the season starts. The important thing is that the QB makes the right reads, regardless of who's defending.

Look back in this thread and see how the other QBs games were described then look at how Cam's game is described.

They get broken down and discredited but Cam get's built up for things he didn't do.

It's quite comical. He looks like the project he is and the 2nd round talent he should have been. For a team with talent to win now, Cam is not the QB.

Realist?

Would better receviers make his throws more accurate?

At halftime, he's around 5-13 with 3 completions at the LOS (Olsen rollout, Barnidge checkdown, Goody screen) and two deep completions where both throws should have been bigger gains but he underthrew them pretty bad.

Out of his incompletions, LaFell one was good throw but better defense in endzone, LaFell 2 was bad throw low in teh endzone, missed Martin down the sideline but looked like a good throw just some handfighting, missed Olsen on a throw down the sideline that was a bad ball, missed barnidge in endzone getting hit, missed barnidge then armanti on back to back throws because he throws off his back foot way too much when there is no rush.

He also bounced one to Naanee over the middle

Second half starting

God damn receivers
