Wildcat, "Mountaineer" Video

I didn't see this posted anywhere, so thought I'd share.

Just a short video looking at some wildcat formation stuff, and some more TC plays.

Looks interesting at least.

10 Notes on the Mountaineer

1. DeAngelo looks extremely small taking snaps out of the gun.

2. Chud is using Cam and Jimmy in trick plays lining them out wide and then having them work their way in on the reverse, which will ultimately lead them to taking a shot down field on a reverse pass (usually to Smith). Also of note, Clausen looks a little lost sometimes as he has never run any formations like this before.

3. LaFell looks like he is the main guy involved in almost every reverse (usually cuts across in front of the Edwards or Williams or takes the reverse and pitches it to Clausen or Cam), something to keep in mind when seeing LaFell on the field.

4. The Panthers look like they will do anything possible to get the ball into Smitty's hands this year, including running reverses and double reverses for him.

5. The Panthers will still use the simple form of the Mountaineer, with DeAngelo and Armanti taking direct snaps from the gun and then taking off.

6. The Panthers seem confident enough in Armanti Edwards accuracy and passing skills to let him throw out of the formation. Stewart is usually in the backfield when they let Edwards throw out of the formation, if it's a running play Williams is usually in the backfield. By the way, Armanti has all around skill and completes some really nice passes.

7. Cam and Jimmy will be used as decoy's alot in the Mountaineer formation as well to always keep the defense guessing.

8. It looks like Stewart even may get some time in the gun to take direct snaps in the Mountaineer.

9. The back's ALWAYS take of to the side opposite of the quarterback in running plays out of the Mountaineer formation when the quarterback is lined up out wide. Other than that, they usually choose to take off to the right the majority of the time.

10. Goodson and Sutton didn't seem to get any looks in the Mountaineer formation.

Damn Cam throws off his back foot a lot.....also, Armanti looks pretty legit, but CJ crunched him....

The threat with Armanti back there is much greater than with DeAngelo.

cam needs to step into his throws, no zip at all.

I have noticed that he doesn't step into his throws all that much but I think it's because he can get away with it. He generates zip on the ball with his upper body.

Not sure I really understand the benefit of running the wildcat with Armanti.

Don't we get the same benefit by having Cam in the shotgun?

Armanti is faster and shiftier.....different style than Cam. You don't want Cam putting his shoulder down trying to run over people like in college. Also, can disappear behind the OL when the misdirection sets in.

Absolutely.

I know a few teams have come out and asked fans not to load video of practices up on youtube.
