A1 steak sauce

I worked in a plant where they made sugar from beets.

After most of the processing, they had a product called CSB (caustic sugar byproduct). It was a normal byproduct but was a nasty chartacter. This stuff would eat through stainless steel piping and concrete.

I asked somebody what they did with it after trucking it out thinking that it would be classified as a hazardous material.

I was told that it is used in meat tenderizers and, you guessed it, A-1 and other steak sauces.
