Can someone explain to me why if that scenario played out the coaching staff would trade a young proven QB for a young unproven QB?

The fans wanted The Golden Calf of Bristol to start, trading The Golden Calf of Bristol would have caused an out-roar from the fan base more so then not starting him. Stupid to trade Orton anyways, best if The Golden Calf of Bristol just sits behind him to grow as a player.

agreed!! if Jimmy Clausen has a good season (and it COULD happen, you never know) then he gets traded and his trade value improves from (what is now) a 5th or 6th round pick to a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

One good year isn't going to get us that high of draft picks for Jimmy, unless he gets a pro bowl season and if that happens I'd rather keep him around to see if he can repeat it (staying consistent) and then trade cam away.

Whats even funnier is Cam really hasn't had a good practice and he is the savior of the fanchise :confused:

Practice doesn't mean a goddamn thing. Drew brees was a bad practice player in san diego now look at him. Jake delhomme didn't do enough in practice to beat out aaron brooks and look how successful he got. Practice does not determine how good a player is during gametime.

Surprisingly enough, on the days you've just said you missed, Cam was actually the one getting almost all of the raves.

Not to discredit your 'accounts' though.

Thanks but even the coach said today Cam isn't consistent enough. So this tells me I don't have to be there to know things haven't changed

That doesn't answer my question tho as that is a different scenario. This thread is about Jimmy having a successful season, which I took to mean he plays the entire season. In that case Cam would not start any games. The Golden Calf of Bristol started some games so that would change things. So if I am correct in thinking that Clausen started all games in this scenario, why trade a proven young QB for an unproven one?

Preseason. Also Cam could start a game or two before, getting injured or doing terrible and gets benched.
