They invested their #1 draft pick into Cam. In any circumstance (other than Jimmy turning into Peyton Manning or the like) Jimmy would be the first to go before Cam.

Right, but his salary isn't near what the last few 1st picks have made. It's more in line with the typical salary of a middle of the 1st round guy. Those guys get traded and dumped pretty easily.

I'd image that the Panthers would keep him around as a quality backup, unless a team comes calling.

I dont think the chances of that are nearly as good as many believe it will be (trading him for a high pick, ala kolb).

I can't see a number one pick being expendable after one year, regardless of how well the other plays. One year isn't enough to go on to make that kind of move.

He's not a middle round guy, he's our first pick. Pay-stub or not, he's the slated future of this franchise. Not Jimmy.

I'd love to see Jimmy blow it up, but the likelihood of such an event happening is like 1/1000.
