Panthers need to re-sign Hurney

CRW let Peppers walk, tag Gross for one more year instead of locking him up, focus on defensive linemen and a corner in FA and draft a big OLT in round 2 if you could do work on the defense prior to draft day with the cap room.
thank god your not our GM

I don't agree with his assessment of the situation but at least he can back up his argument. Most of the posters on here don't even understand that concept nor do they have arguments of their own, they just pick apart everyone elses.

Aaah, I see your POV now. You make a fair argument.

I think we will all have a lightbulb moment when whatever Hurney has up his sleeve happens. I think he made quite a statement by tagging peppers and I seriously doubt that he would have knowingly handcuffed the team by doing so.

Obviously I hope I'm right, we'll find out soon enough (for me anyways, some people need news NOW!!!!OMGZ!!!)

I hope you are right as well.obviously. My fear is that he overestimated the interest in Peppers. It's hard to believe but he has some baggage. It may not be legit baggage but they are bargaining chips that will drag out negotiations..

age

new scheme

new position

not a vocal leader despite veteran/superfreak icon status

accused of taking plays off

mysterious down year (2007)

case in point Doc Holliday

I could argue your argument if I wanted to and if I haven't already done so 2 or 3 times prior with other posters in other threads, you can only say something so many times before you don't care if you sway them to your side of the argument or not anymore.

Your really trying hard at this getting me to go postal crap anyway

I agree and understand your choice to stand behind "don't let him walk for nothing". I also understand that with each passing day my side gains credibility while yours...well

His argument to let Peppers walk, while I understand the argument and where he's coming from, I believe it to also be very misguided(and Hurney would have been fired if he did that). There is a opportunity here with Peppers at the moment to gain a lot(Draft Picks) where there is nothing, Free Agency is just as hit and miss as the Draft our history as a franchise backs this up, there is no sure thing anywhere. And because of that I would much rather stick to our own players and Draft as much as possible.

Because at least when you draft a player they are going usually play for you a lot longer then a FA will and they will even give you a Home town discount to the Team that drafted them because they like the Team and the City they are in and would rather stay, many in the Media think that Gross gave the Panthers a $20 mil HTD and Gamble gave them a $10 HTD off what they could have easily made if they hit the market.

and on top of that from what I can tell all of the D-linemen with exceptional talent either signed for way more then what we would have gave them even without peppers being here, or they were tagged by they're own team, at least with a tag and trade of Peppers at least allows for the Possibility of replacing a exceptionally talented player with another exceptionally talented player.

how does your side gain credibility, Have you been hiding under a Rock? every Panthers beat writer from Gantt to Reed have said don't expect a trade until right before the draft, and I agree

right now the panther have Peppers by the balls and they both know it.

how exactly do they have him by the balls?

..laughable

and every beat writer who wants to keep his job and his press creds will not touch what is really at work here. spineless pussys--err--apologists that they are.

weve drafted and acquired through FA plenty of busts and plenty of winners. NEVER (not in recent history) have we completely shut ourselves out of contention, bet on the come, and jeopardized the off season on a flyer like this.

J Pep is a great player but has too many verifiable strikes against himm to categorize him an educated guess in my opinion.

We'd all (me included) like to think he will bring us the motherload but in reality there is NOTHING (legitimately) that is worth taking yourself off the table when you have a team that just needs a few pieces and has potential to be a major cap player.

I'm actually with ya on this one.

The way I see it though is we either get compensation for him or he plays for us in another contract year, and we all know what happens to players in contract years.

Seems like a win-win for the Panthers
