Panthers need to re-sign Hurney

Pat Yasinskas said Hurney and Fox are "a package deal".

If I am interpreting it right, what Yas said doesn't make much sense. In other words, if whoever makes the call on firing the HC it would mean Hurney gets the axe too? It would make sense the other way. If the GM gets canned and they hire a new one, that guy usually wants his own HC.

Resign Hurney ??

Yeah he has done a great job so far with Peppers and Delhomme.

There is so much Panthers news this off season I can hardly keep up.

Beason, Williams, Stewart, Otah, Kalil, Gross deal >>>>>>>>> any perceived failings regarding Peppers or Delhomme.

As for it being slow, think about the teams that always go out and win the FA lotto every offseason. Who are they, and does it really ever pan out for them in the end?

resign yes, re-sign no

His impersonation of Joseph Hazelwood in the tagging of Pep sealed his fate in my book. Even if he gets lucky and bails himself out to an extent he will remain a fugging moron for doing something so stupid and/or not haveing the common sense and foresight to keep the club out of these type situations.

Bye Hurney.

Crolls, I get that some of the contract stuff wasn't the best planning all the time but what could he have done to prevent Pep from wanting to leave?

Hurney could have tried to sign him to the biggest DE contract in the NFL last year.

oh, wait.

resign no, re-sign yes

His impersonation of -anyone intelligent- in the tagging of Pep sealed his fate in my book. Even if he screws up and can't bail himself out to an extent he will remain a key in our attempt to build a successful run-first, defensive philosophy team and he has the common sense and foresight to keep the club out of these type situations where we get nothing for a big time player that wants to leave.

Welcome back Hurney.

he can't

and why are you asking me?

Hurney is the one who thinks he has control over this somehow. Whatever he thought about the situation, he made a POOOOOOR decision to tag him.

The potential for failure far outweighed the LEGITIMATE possibility for success. Tagging Pep was not a measured risk and Hurney was given ALL the signs that there was a strong likelihood for this to go bad, including the "4 team" remarks made earlier in that week by the peppers camp.

That remark alone whether true or not should have told anybody that this was going to go South and something was going to happen to benefit Pep LONG before anything that could benefit the Panthers was going to happen.

..but braindead Hurney ignored the obvious and still hoped for the motherload
