Rivera has already said that he will start both Clausen and Cam during preseason games. Wants to see each against 1st team defenses.

I thought that Cam would have gotten the start at home just to excite the fan base.

I like the idea of letting Cam take his first snaps against 2nd and 3rd stringers, and building up to starting defenses.

Hopefully Jimmy at least puts up a good fight this offseason. I would also love to see Cam get some extended time with the starters as well.

here's how i see it going saturday jimmy plays the first qtr & a series or two in the second, cam plays the the rest of the second & all of the third with anderson playing the fourth

I hope both guys play great and look like they are making solid progress. Nothing would make me happier than for both of them to look like they should be starting in the regular season

You think maybe there is method to the madness with having Jimmy show mostly a West Coast proficiency by all the 10 yarders? Besides Seattle, who else could use a young QB with a lot of promise? Hope.

I'm a strong Cam Newton supporter, and I'm not concerned. The fact Newton will be 2nd string means he'll get more reps. Rivera has said he won't name a real starter until the 3rd preseason game anyhow...

This is just an obligatory move considering Jimmy had the starting job at the end of the year.
