Young aims to regain starting job

Which is why I have no problem with Collins being the starter. He earned it. I just dont think Vince is "finished" because of it.

So did Vince Young. He won Offensive Rookie Of the Year just like Ryan did too. The difference, Matt Ryan is perceived as having a great career ahead of him. Vince Young after a bad sophomore season isnt an NFL QB anymore. You think people are gonna tell Matt Ryan if the Falcons flop and miss the playoffs next year (which history predicts they will) he's not a QB? HELL NO.

I had no problem with McNabb's benching. He wasnt playing well and needed something like that to turn it around. Its just funny how half of the Philly media and some of their fans were so ready for the Kevin Kolb era. They were angry at Reid for sticking with his guy. I dont think a white QB with Don's resume goes thru no bullshit like that.

As he should've been. Kurt was pretty bad for a couple of years. He got alot of praise during this playoff run, even people mentioning him as a Hall Of Famer. I dont know how you missed that. The only on air announcer I seen praising McNabb for his late season turn around was Troy Aikman. Joe Buck and the others were firmly on Kurt's nuts.

Young wasn't that great his rookie year either. Take a look at his stats. The Titans got to the playoffs because of their defense and special teams, IN SPITE of Young's poor performance. He simply rode the wave of his NC season his first year.

He's NOT a QB, and would be better suited as a slot receiver of sorts. His running ability isn't going to ttake him as far when linebackers are just as fast/faster than he is.

People, Vince Young did not make the playoffs his rookie year. He did his second year when he had a higher QB rating than his 1st year. It's his third year when he got injured, got booed, had his little feelings hurt and went awol.

Ryan hasn't had his starting job taken away by someone in his late 30's has he? When that happens to a QB, public perception is gonna be that he doesn't have a bright future.

Everyone thought Kurt's career was over till this year. Anyone who makes a turn around like that deserves praise.

And since when are Philly fans rational?

The problem is you wanna make it about race when its not even about that. Would you rather teams rework their whole offense to a QB who is run first, pass second like the Falcons did with Vick? Yeah that brought them alot of success.

If a QB can't do his job, he deserves any bad critism he gets and/or get yanked. If you may recall, many Panthers fans here were ready to murder David Carr after just 2 games.

    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
    • Well, we got our answer on Army today.
    • Not a chance the SEC could compete with the NFL.  In the large cities that are not in the Southeast, (LA, NYC, Chicago, SF) College football is an afterthought.
