Young aims to regain starting job

He sucks. Not a NFL QB. I don't know why do many people here ride his nuts and say he's the future of that franchise.

It's not really about lacking the mental capacity. You either have it or you don't. He doesn't have it. His running ability, while better than any other QB in the league today, doesn't amount to what it used to in college.

are you serious...i hope not

I am. Vince isnt even good enough to hold a clipboard in this league. He's no Joey Harrington or David Carr. Those guys are NFL QBs, Vince Young is a running back. Those guys have put teams on their backs and taken them to the playoffs. They deserve a roster spot, that knucklehead Vince doesnt. I hate him!

KT's just speaking the truth. Everyone else is too PC to say it. Black QBs just arent smart enough. They dont have the skills to win in this league. You need a prototypical QB. Someone who's blonde, blue eyed, about 6'5 240 lbs and can pass his ass off. Think Carson Palmer. Think about how many playoff games Palmer has won. Much more than "running QBs" like McNabb and Vick. Think of how high his winning percentage is. He's the prototype. Thats why he's the highest paid QB in the league.

But KT, to counter your point. The Titans used an old as dirt, slower than dial up internet qb to win thier division and make the playoffs. They didn't win of course.

Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan took their teams in their first year to the playoffs.

Stats and colors are two different things.

Its a strange scenario how this gets play, the color of the of the qb. I think it has more juice in some places but not overall.

Example. Everybody was going crazy over McNabb's benching then his phoenix like rise from the ashes to lead his team(picked by many to win the NFC East btw) to the playoffs and eventually a 5th NFC Champ in 10 years. That is great.

But what was NOT played up was the fact that Warner, another slow white guy, was on the bench..NOT one game, but for a couple of YEARS. Years. Think about that.

He was a bad int at the half away from winning a Super Bowl with arguably the worst franchise in ALL sports.

When things don't go someones way, it can't always be skin. And when things DO go someones way, it ALSO can't be skin.

NFL is a performance league. You win and you are in. Carr and Harrington got a shot, and didn't perform. They are now backups and that is it.

Which is why I have no problem with Collins being the starter. He earned it. I just dont think Vince is "finished" because of it.

Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan took their teams in their first year to the playoffs.

So did Vince Young. He won Offensive Rookie Of the Year just like Ryan did too. The difference, Matt Ryan is perceived as having a great career ahead of him. Vince Young after a bad sophomore season isnt an NFL QB anymore. You think people are gonna tell Matt Ryan if the Falcons flop and miss the playoffs next year (which history predicts they will) he's not a QB? HELL NO.

I had no problem with McNabb's benching. He wasnt playing well and needed something like that to turn it around. Its just funny how half of the Philly media and some of their fans were so ready for the Kevin Kolb era. They were angry at Reid for sticking with his guy. I dont think a white QB with Don's resume goes thru no bullshit like that.

As he should've been. Kurt was pretty bad for a couple of years. He got alot of praise during this playoff run, even people mentioning him as a Hall Of Famer. I dont know how you missed that. The only on air announcer I seen praising McNabb for his late season turn around was Troy Aikman. Joe Buck and the others were firmly on Kurt's nuts.

KT, what the hell are you rambling on about?

Young had a better sophomore season leading the Titans to a 10-6 record and the playoffs than his 8-8 rookie year.

This past year, after he got hurt, then had his off the field drama...

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans called police for help searching for Vince Young because his therapist told coach Jeff Fisher the quarterback mentioned suicide several times before driving away from his home with a gun.

Both Fisher and Young have said what happened Monday night was overblown by the media. But the supplemental report filed Tuesday by Nashville police showed that Fisher was worried what his quarterback might be doing after the call from Young's therapist.

"I asked [Fisher], 'What made her worry about him?'" Lt. Andrea Swisher wrote. "He stated, 'His mood, his emotions, he wants to quit, and he mentioned suicide several times.' He went on to state that [Young] left the house with a gun."

The Titans declined to comment on details of the report. On Tuesday, the team issued a statement saying police had been called over concern for Young but those concerns were unfounded.

"Last night, we received a call from people that are closest to Vince informing us that he had left his house in a state of mind that had them concerned; and that he was unreachable, having left his cell phone at the house," it said. "Not having all the facts available to us and approaching the matter prudently, we contacted Metro Police to make them aware of the situation and asked for their assistance in locating Vince. He was located at a friend's house, where we made contact with him. He then came to the practice facility where it was determined that those initial concerns by his friends and family were unfounded and he returned home without incident."

....has far more to do where he is right now than his on the field performance.

How ironic he was replaced by a previous psycho, Kerry Collins.

He actually went 8-5 his rookie year. The Titans lost their first 3 games that season when Collins was starting. The Titans went 10-6 in 07, but Vince's play regressed. He had a better rookie year as a player although he went farther in his 2nd season.

so KT what do you think of josh freeman nate davis and pat white they are all black QBs

All of them have a chance to be successful and good players in the NFL. There's one of those names I want the Panthers to draft. Its wishful thinking, but I wont say which 1 so I wont jinx it. ;)

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
