Schwartz looked bad when I watched him. bad feet. Clowney caught 2 impressive passes but he dropped 4 passes that I saw. Not good. Pilares looked very good, Armanti still needs to learn to beat the jam, and we ran some 2 TE sets in the red zone that was for the purpose of creating matchup problems. (Smith, Olsen, Shockey, Naanee). Olsen ran some deep routes and Barnidge looked good. Cam is the real deal. Was reading and looking downfield. Saw WRs and TEs getting open before they were open. Clausen is the opposite. He does not see them getting open, doubts they will or that he can get it there. Still, booing him makes us worse--IDIOTS!!! "But he could not throw a ball past the LOS last year, and since my life is so successful, I feel it is my duty to follow other idiots and bash him at every given opportunity." I can not beleive how many fans in Charlotte are more concerned about their opinions than their team.

Im impressed. You were one the key cam nay-sayers. Nice write up.

How's Jimmer doing?

JC is going to be a fair west coast QB for a west coast offense not like the one we run here. A dink and dunk type. His confidence seems to be coming back and I admired the fact that he seems driven this season. Still, he does not see the field well, even when wearing the red shirt. He seems to have to "wind up" to get the ball out.

I was anti Cam. My concerns about his work ethic and character were my main reasons, in addtion to the fact that we would not have OTAs and summer work, and he would have to spend the year learning the offense and new technique. But he is as prepared as possible. The only time I saw any kind of accuracy problems were on out routes, but if the WR is not open, you want it high. On deep routes, he was money. The receiver did not have to break stride, allowing big gainers to go for TDs (Barnidge, 70 yard crossing route, Clowney streaking down sideline). Cam stayed in the pocket, stepped up in it, and showed tremendous vision. Now, remember, our CBs were CJ Wilson, Jackson, Burney, and Stanford, but he made Barnidge look like Olsen and Clowney look like a WR.

About Pilares. He was ahead of the curve with his route running and showed good hands catching over the middle. These were 3 things I heard he needed to improve-routes, hands, catching over middle. I would see a play, and say, "Dang. who is 81?" and three times I referred to the sheet they gave us. For some reason, could not remember he wore 81.

I was also impressed with Naanee in the red zone.

Rivera seems to like the veterans too. No Rookies, including Cam, were starting unless there was an injured player they were replacing (Fua).

I feel a little better about DT, but then again, the starters were going against Bernadeau (who has awesome technique) and CJ Davis (who I did not know was still on the team)

About OL: Jordan Gross and Travelle Wharton are great togther. Switching on stunts like basketball players on a pick. Otah is really good. A few times I saw some good LT blocking in a pass rushing drill and referred to my sheet-Bender was better than Garry Williams, IMO. Ziemba was so-so at RT. He may just be a RG before all is said and done, but he is the second best RT we have.

OH YEAH: I saw some defensive drills where Charles Johnson was playing the three technique (pass rushing drills). Everette Brown and Eric Norwood looked OK, both lining up wider and angling in to the QB like a rush end. They stunted a lot. Basically, they are going to use their speed and not ask them to lock up with tackles.

I saw Edwards working with the young DL with hand drills. He was constantly talking technique to them, going over hand placement and showing Karate-type defenses against the holding.

Again, I am excited about what I saw in Cam. When I watch QBs, I like to watch the coverage and predict where I would go with the ball, always, of course, looking big play to the safe out. I can usually see who is about to come open. WHen JC was in, I saw deeper routes where the WR was in good postion-one on one or turned the DB around, etc. and JC seemed to always check down. He never took the chance. His longest and most impressive pass was an over-the-shoulder fade to Sutton. Cam, on the other hand, sees a player coming open before they do. The ball is halfway there at times, and I am thinking, "WHere are you going with that pass?", and boom, it opens. The D cannot react. Even when Clausen hit Olsen in the endzone, He threw it too late, causing Olsen to have to make a circus catch with 2 guys on him. He saw Olsen, knew he was going there, took another step, and lauched the ball. That step of indecision is costly.

JC has a confidence problem and limited talent. We need to support him now because he will be a decent backup after getting coached. BTW-this coaching staff is good. They were not the show, but when I felt there was a mistake, they were all over it. For example, AE got jammed by Burney. Cam threw the fade and AE was not there. Shula got on Cam (throwing the fade before the player releases the jam) and the WR coach pulled AE aside to discuss beating the jam. As the ball floated to nobody, Burney got pumped up

Burney looked pretty good, and Stanford is (apparently) ahead of McCLain now--I never saw Robert McClain.

The biggest difference I saw? The TEs are now weapons and the offense is geared toward making Olsen and Shockey factors. I do not see how the D can rush 8 this season. I do not see how they can rush 7 without maor risk. When Cam is in the game, I do not see how they can rush 6 without a shadow. They are not going to fluster him. He will not panic. He can be a pocket passer. Time is all he needs. I would, however, start him.

I went to last year's fan fest (for the first time ever) and although I wanted to go to yesterday's, had to work. Last year they looked just terrible. Afterwards, I remember telling a close friend (a buc fan from Tampa) how Tampa was probably going to whup us good. They just looked lost; it was THAT bad. Of course, we know the rest of that story.

Glad to hear all the good things about this year's fan fest. Looking for that energy and those positives to carry into the season. I'm not much at talking trash, but I am debating what to tell my buc-fan friend. Just hope our Panthers will walk my talk!

wow, fantastic write up man. I wish I could go see cam practice and everything, I would love to have my preconceived notions from the draft changed from first hand experience. Everything I've heard thus far leads me to believe that he really has a shot at being great for us, even if he is still a rookie and making rookie mistakes.

I personally still felt like both Cam and Jimmy were holding the ball a little long in the pocket. However, this is to be expected with young QB's. Experience will help them develop that clock in their head.

Overall, I was impressed with Cam.
