Carolina and Denver in Trade Talks for Peppers......**RUMOR**

WARHORSE

Recommended Posts

Peppers has a franchise tender and cannot be traded until he signs it, which means any trade discussions must go through his agent, Carl Carey. Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, Carolina is prohibited from discussing a deal for Peppers with another team. If the Panthers did, it immediately would bring an NFL Players Association grievance.

A Denver Fan invading for a moment.

Hillis is a good enough player that if he is traded, I will be a carolina fan. He has that much promise. He's not really a fullback - at least not in the way fullback is defined in the NFL. He has phenomenal hands for receiver, a phenomenal lead blocker - go check out who he led for in Ak, and a awesome downhill runner with significant speed. There are many in Denver who are convienced that he is long awaited successor to Clinton Portis and Terrell Davis. The only knock against him in the draft was his physical size.

Tony Sheffler has a issue staying healthy, but catches everything that is thrown his way no matter how much traffic is out there. He is also a good down field blocker. I would honestly rather trade Graham then Tony, since he is one of Jay Cutler's favorite targets.

Eddie Royal is the other play who may or many not be involved from what I hear. He was the top rookie wide receiver last year with 980 yards. Given that there were four receivers picked above him, not bad at all. He is a excellent route runner, and is good at burning man coverage.

(BTW, if Denver gives up a first, it will only be a first, not a first and a player). The chance that Rey Rey or BJ Raji is still on the board at 12 is too great not too.

And I will repeat...if Hurney can get even ONE first round pick for a guy who is a CONVERSION PROJECT (likely in Den because they are going to 3-4) he is the genius to end all genii.

While I’m never one to discredit Hurney’s negotiating skills, much of whatever we receive in exchange for Peppers will result from how dominant Peppers has been over the last few years.

Even if he goes to a 3-4 defense, he’s hardly a typical conversion player.

True, he’ll have to learn a new system, but it’s Pepper’s athleticism that will allow him to play well in a very different system.

Hell, the guy could have played in the NBA.

Why do you guys want to get rid of a key cog in our amazing running game (Hoover) by replacing him with Hillis??? And to trade Peppers in order to make that happen? There is ONE player on the Broncos current roster that I would base a trade with Peppers around and that is Jay Cutler. If he's not in the mix then the Broncos better be giving up a stable of draft picks...not a damn fullback and a TE (who in our system you never know if he is better than Barnridge or Rosario). You guys way undervalue Peppers if you think this is a good trade...you think people are laughing at NE for trading away Cassel...we would be the JOKE of the NFL if we made that trade.

Think about the fact that since 2002 nobody in the league has more total sacks than Pep. He and Freeney are tied with 70.5 and John Abraham is close with about 67. And none of the other DEs or OLBs have near the FF, Pass deflections, and QB hurries that Pep has. I have said this since he came out and said he wanted a trade...In the right circumstances he is the most dominant defensive player in the league. There is nobody that can even touch his atleticism or versatility.

If we gave him up for ANY trade that didn't include a first round draft pick and multiple players/picks then we are getting SCREWED. Hillis, Scheffler and a draft pick my ass...If Hurney does that then IDC how much good he has done for us he should be fired on the spot.

The most idiotic WALL OF fuging TEXT I'VE EVER READ.

as much as you may value these guys ( and im not sayin i dont beleive you) playin for our team they would not be big contributers. we have hoover who is a great lead blocker, and our TEs are nothing more than extra blockers and king does a fine job at doing that. the only one of those guys id say would help us is royal considering that our WRs are gettin older

So if Denver really did want another pass rush option and used their first rounder on Orakpo instead of trading it to us for Peppers would that be a smarter thing to do?? Nobody that comes out to play OLB in a 3-4 is already a converted project...they are ALL 4-3 DEs when they come out of college. So what exactly makes Peppers any different other than the fact that he is already stronger, faster, and more accustomed to the NFL than a 2009 first round draft pick?

These guys are FREAK athletes (especially Pep) and to say that he can't switch systems and be succesful is retarded. That is like saying that Demarcus Ware could NEVER come to Carolina and play 4-3 DE...He would probably be one of the best in the league because like I said he is a freak. These guys know no boundaries when it comes to physical abilities on the football field. Thats why they are in the NFL...

    • Could this be real or smokescreen  or Warren, come on down Panthers’ Canales putting emphasis on versatility as Carolina looks to evolve TE spot BY MIKE KAYE [email protected] 11hrs ago Dave Canales doesn’t want one-note tight ends in his offense. As the second-year head coach continues to evolve his playbook in Carolina, he’s prioritizing versatility at a key spot on the Panthers’ depth chart. While wide receiver upgrades have become a popular topic in the Queen City, especially on social media, the folks on Mint Street might have a better shot at improving their overall offensive attack with a facelift at tight end. With Tommy Tremble and Ian Thomas headed to free agency later this month, Ja’Tavion Sanders — last year’s fourth-round pick — is the only notable player under contract at the position in 2025. And the lack of solidified players on the depth chart offers up an opportunity to further craft the position in Canales’ image. The offensive play-caller painted a crystal-clear picture of that image last week at the NFL Scouting Combine. “Versatility and toughness, first and foremost,” Canales said. “We’re going to run the ball, so we certainly can’t just take receiving tight ends who give you no value in the run game. At a minimum, this has to be a guy that’s really tough. It doesn’t mean that he’s got to be the 260-pound bruiser that plays in-line. Those guys are cool, too, but if he’s going to be 235 pounds, he has to play with the level of violence because we are going to run the ball a lot. So the versatility is really important for me at the tight end.”   While the veteran free agency class isn’t particularly stocked with notable names that fit that standard, the NFL Draft, according to most media evaluators, has a plethora of those versatile talents, most notably Penn State tight end Tyler Warren. Canales sees a Swiss Army knife of sorts when he watches film the 6-foot-6, 261-pound playmaker. “I think he’s an incredible player,” Canales said. “I think speaking of versatility, here’s a guy that can play close to the interior and play physical because of his sheer size, but then, he does create some mismatches in the pass game, you can hand him the ball. So if you look at some of the teams that are using tight ends for QB sneak — that would be a weapon for somebody in a short-yardage situation to utilize him. So, he’s a very interesting prospect.” Warren — who is currently projected as a top-10 prospect by Pro Football Focus — produced 1,233 receiving yards, 218 rushing yards and 13 total touchdowns (including a passing score) last year for the Nittany Lions. He might be gone by the time the Panthers pick at No. 8 in the first round, or Carolina might prioritize another position with that selection And if the Panthers pass on Warren, they’ll still have plenty of strong options during the rest of draft weekend. Michigan’s Colston Loveland, Texas’s Gunnar Helm, and Miami’s Elijah Arroyo are all projected as top-100 picks. All three would add a playmaking threat to Canales’ offensive play-calling concoction. There’s also Tremble, whom both Canales and general manager Dan Morgan openly expressed desire in bringing back during their time at the combine last week.  Tremble dealt with nagging injuries throughout last season, but still produced a career-high 234 receiving yards. He also has the blocking and receiving versatility that Canales craves. But the Panthers want to make sure they get a fair deal done for both sides. Sometimes, that’s not as easy as it sounds. “Yeah, it’s a challenge, right? Because you want continuity,” Canales said. “Talk about a guy like Tommy Tremble. We’re going through all of our film and he does such a great job. So, now it’s all of a sudden it’s like, in all fairness, like, ‘Let’s let Tommy see what’s out there from a free agency standpoint.’ But for me it’s like, ‘OK, we have these guys that we’ve trained for a year, and you’d love to have them back.’” Sanders set a new franchise rookie record with 342 receiving yards last season. He also improved as a blocker from his college days. While he has shown he can be a key cog in the Carolina offense, the Panthers aren’t going to just settle for continuity, even if that’s seemingly a foundational priority for Canales. Bringing back Sanders and Tremble with minimal enhancement otherwise would be a disservice to the offense’s evolution. Canales knows that and Morgan knows that.
