As a stop-gap WR, why not..

Jerricho Cotchery, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Steve Smith (the former Giant, not the legendary Steve Smith), Terrell Owens, or former Ram/Raven Mark Clayton?

Sorry, guys, I can't let it go. Naane is a stop-gap (future waiver wire fodder) WR, plain and simple. Even if he was brought in to foster a sense of competition and/or to teach the young guys how to be seasoned professionals, then why wouldn't we get one of these guys. And, yes, I know that some come with baggage and may think the are worth more than they are in today's market, but the phone not ringing has to have a humbling effect if you still fancy yourself with the ability to be productive.

Some are old, some are B-listers who have done great impersonations as A-listers at times in their careers, but they have to be better "tools" for motivation than a career 3rd string joureyman, and may just have something left in the tank to propel our offense along (at least until next season).

Guest Spot On Dtan

You could bring them all in and have a cranky diva party

Steve Smith on Karaoke

TO manning the keg

Housh whipping up some appetizers

Clayton DJing...

You'd be able to draw Moss out of retirement with that crew

No.

Simple as that, huh? Ibet you'll be putting an "Oh" (as in "Oh No!") in front of your response when it comes to the season and Smitty is getting doubled and one of our distinguished youngsters is running the wrong route or dropping the ball. Perhaps it will be "Oh, fug!"

We'd seriously have the most outrageous, media-trolling WR corps in the league.

Giants are dicking around with Steve Smith because he's coming off an injury, offering him some cheap 1 year deal. Assuming your medical staff gives you the go ahead after checking him out I'd try to steal him away by offering a decently sized 4-5 year deal. If he never returns to form you can always cut him anyway. But after our spending spree we don't have the money to do this anyway so it's a moot point.

All the money ain't gone, and the FO could find a way to do what they want to do. Cheaping out is a lame reason.

I wouldn't call Steve Smith (Giants) a stop gap IF he was healthy. His numbers in 2009 (107 rec) were at the top of the league.

Last year was cut short by injury. If he's healthy he's a #2 quality receiver. If not, he's no help at all.

Smith would take cheap deal: Under any other set of circumstances, might have been in line for a huge pay day given his production over the past four seasons which includes 220 receptions for 2,386 yards and 11 touchdowns. Those numbers also include his franchise-record 107 receptions for 1,220 yards set in 2009, the same year where he was also named to the Pro Bowl. But Smith, a free agent, is coming off an injury-filled 2010 season that began with a torn pectoral muscle suffered in a practice and ended with him suffering a season-ending knee injury for which he needed microfracture surgery. Smith has been working hard on his rehab and according to The Sports Xchange is reportedly willing to accept a one-year deal that would allow him to re-establish his value to the team. "I appreciate all of (your) comments saying (you want to) see me re-sign," Smith posted on Facebook. "[T]rust me when I tell (you) that the feeling is mutual and that my agent is working on it !!!!"

Sadly for us, Hurney selected the wrong WR from USC in the 2nd round during the 2007 NFL Draft.
