Rriverrrrerrra says Panthers can win 10 games this season

Most 2-14 teams have major issues-rebuilding is a lengthy process. However, we had reasons for losing that were based on youth, key injuries (Otah, Davis, Moore, etc) and lame duck coaches. Yes, we needed a QB and WRs and DTs. Our WRs (3 drafted) are now more experienced and we picked up a veteran from SD. Our TEs are threats now, taking pressure off the WRs. Our DTs were terrible last season, but we found a decent 1 technique in Neblett and drafted Fua. They are young, but better. Corvey Irvin is now showing signs of reaching his potential, and Terrell McClain has been pretty good in camp. Davis and Otah are healed. So where does that leave us? QB was the biggest problem. We have an incredible talent to develop and last year's QB is showing improvement. Not there yet, but we could be much better. 10 wins is doable.

Tampa Bay was very young in 2009. Look what they did in 2010. Who called that?

In addition, any time a new coach and staff comes in it jolts the organization. RR has a very good coaching staff. Frankly, I do not see how we won 2 games last year, but this year, I think we will be in most every game we play. The offense is explosive, the defense is healthy and better. I wish RR had said 16.

Exactly, this team just has too much talent to lose anything more than +7 Games this year.

Solid QB play, this team is guaranteed 8 wins. Typical rookie play (ie: Josh Freeman) 6 wins.

All around shi*ty QB play. Less than 5 wins.

It's that simple.

Yeah, that's the way I see it too.

MHS831...

While your post was completely logical and laid out very well, there aren't that many people that have the knowledge of the game that will agree with you. While you are expecting to have a good debate while actually talking football, these are the responses you are likely to get instead

"what a homer" "talent doesn't mean wins" "be glad if we win more than 4 games"

I completely agree with you, you're just in the wrong place to actually have a debate with the fans located here. They are stuck in the Fox era... Unwilling to be optimistic, unwilling to change... Even as they have complained about "it is what it is" that's all that's in their brains... They will read your post and while it makes complete sense... By the end, they'll be like... We were 2-14 last year. This year we have a rookie QB, new coaching staff, and new philosophies on O and D... There's no way we can win 10 games... Then they'll say... Oh well... "it is what it is" there's always next year...

They just don't get it... This year hasn't started yet and they're already looking forward to next year. By the time this team gets rolling and surprising even them, they will have missed out on 1/2 the excitement... I say to hell with all of them. Go Panthers! Shock your own so called "fans...

I am saying it is possible, not probable, but why not? Is not having OTAs a bigger obstacle than not having role-playing free agents or a coach who cares?. Realists say that we will not win 5 games. I understand their logic. But the NFL is about parity, and it doesn't take much to swing the sails and catch the wind. Damn right I am a homer! This is a Panther page, and I come on here to get fired up as much as to get news. When the Panthers lose, I go into a three-day depression. THis is serious stuff to me, so I will think half full instead of half empty.

I know where you are coming from and I appreciate it. All I am saying is, why the hell not? If I had to bet, I would bet on a 5 win season. But if everything falls in place, I have seen stranger things than a 2-14 team going 10-6 the following year. Besides, I want my coach thinking playoffs. Do those sarcastic critics and trolls on here think he should shoot for 5 wins? We will have 5 wins in October. Mark these words. Mark them I say!

You are mistaken my friend... I agreed with your first post, and I couldn't agree more with your second post. I was attacked about a week ago when I said I thought we could win 10 games this year. I also agree with October.

When the Panthers lose, that pretty much ruins my week... I had a really shitty year last season. But I was deployed to a great location... Away from media, so it was a Lil easier to have fun after a loss.

Fwiw, I think we WILL win 10 games... Anything else would be a major disappointment... And unlike other people here, I'm not afraid to set the bar high for this team. I'm on the Rivera era train... All the way to the SuperBowl I'm thinking within the next 3 years... We'll all be witnesses.

OK skeptics

Have we improved at the following positions:

CB: With Marshall gone, considering other teams completed 75% of passes thrown to his man, and considering we played several games with Munnerlyn and 7th round rookie Robert McCain, I would say, we have to be a little better.

S: We are the same regarding personnel, but the scheme is different. Hard to tell yet.

LB: Lets see, We have Anderson, Beason in the middle, a healthy Thomas Davis, Gaither and a healthy Connor. MUCH BETTER.

DE: Charles Johnson and Tyler Brayton vs. Charles Johnson and Greg Hardy, with better shemes for Norwood and Brown. We should improve, but not by much.

DT: Even with 2 rookies and Neblett and Irvin, we should be improved. Irvin;s development is the key, but Fua and McClain are better than what we started last year.

So defensively, we will be better. We were not too bad last year, considering how long the D was on the field.

Offensively

QB: Clausen will be better, Cam should become a star. Much improvement with growing pains.

RB: Stewart is actually healthy and practicing. DW is healthy. Better

WR: Gettis, Lafell, and Edwards are better this year (or should be). Smith will be better with better QB play. Pilares and Naanee are solid. Better.

OL: Let's see, Wharton is back from a toe injury and Otah will play. Better.

TE: This is the difference maker on offense. Look for the dynamic duo at TE to catch 90 balls, create matchup problems for the defense, and make us formidible in the red zone. MUCH BETTER. What CLausen would have done with these 2 last year--you all might not hate him as much.

The offense is better. The defense is better. THe coaching staff is better. Why do you all expect the same results as last year? Why not 10 wins? Why only 10 wins? If Cam has a tremendous rookie year, we could do it. Don't bet against him.
