Panthers claim CB Chevis Jackson

From the year he was drafted, Kirwan had him as the 13th best corner in the draft:

13. Chevis Jackson, LSU

Height: 6-0 Weight: 192

College stats: 39 starts, 142 tackles, 38 passes defended, 8 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles

Vital numbers: 4.52 40-yard dash, 4.15 short shuttle, 40-inch vertical

Jackson is a steady zone corner with lots of experience, and a guy who gets more out of his speed because of good fundamentals. He will not get beat from a lack of concentration or sloppy footwork. He may be as good as he's going to be but that may be good enough to stick in the league for years.

Draft projection: Round 4.

Sounds like camp fodder. Although he did have an INT return for 95 yards and a TD his rookie season. That was his only pick of his career and the last three years he literally has no stats.

For what its worth, he sucks on Madden...

I've seen several folks post Madden references on this board lately. Do people honestly judge players that way?

If that's the case, let's pick up Bo Jackson from my 1991 Techmo Bowl game and just run him every single play. Who needs a quarterback then?

It was obvious they was waiting to claim someone off of waivers or whatever, they'll probably end up going for a more experienced skilled guy once more people are dropped off. :\ What was the point of bringing him in? Any suggestions on how the CB dept thing is going to look like?

I wasn't wondering and know that it at least is worth as much as yours. Keep your hat on, just a post...

Just making sure that your small little brain realizes that Madden has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with real football.

Damn, we are being over-run with pre-pubescent little shits on this board lately.

Good point. Which is why we should've signed one of the higher-tier guys while they were still out there. I'm worried about CB and DT right now.

Truth is, he probably is camp fodder, but I think if we took some of our guys into other camps, they would probably be camp fodder as well. ;)

He is camp fodder--not better than Stanford, McClain, or CJWilson.

How do you know that Chevis Jackson is not better than R.J. Stanford, Robert McClain, etc?

This team is filled with one above average cornerback in Chris Gamble (yes, above average; wether you choose to acknowledge that or not is your prefrence), five cornerbacks that are mediocre to below average at best in Chevis Jackson, Cletis Gordon, C.J. Wilson, Robert McClain, R.J. Stanford, and two what should be above average nickelback's in Kendric Burney and Captain Munnerlyn.

I mean really, we just need to sign another above average corner and keep a few of the mediocre corners. Chris Gamble, (another above average corner), Robert McClain, R.J. Stanford, Chevis Jackson, Captain Munnerlyn, and Kendric Burney would be a more reliable corp (along with Brandon Hogan on IR).
