Blitzing has nothing to do with it. Still need a big body who won't allow QB's to just step up while the DE's come off the edge and the other DT tries to penetrate.

On run downs you keep an opposing OL from getting to the second level and allowing the RB to get a modest to big gain.

I'm fine with Kemo, just thought he was highly overpaid for a one trick role player, but he did play his role well.

Not sure where the fat crap comes in either, he gets paid well to big and he's careful with it. His weight was never an issue, he was always involved in team training and had an in season private chef to prepare well balanced healthy meals to help maintain his weight.

no JOAT, we don't need space eaters that don't penetrate. we need guys that can disrupt the middle in both DT positions, it's the function of even the NT in a Jim Johnson 4-3 to penetrate his gap assignment, especially on passing plays. Guys like Barry Cofield are perfect NTs for this scheme.

We got Ron Edwards because he was a versatile player that could handle the different assignments. He could penetrate, and also he can create a space for blitzing linebackers to get through. An extra 25 lbs is useless if all you know how to do is eat blockers. I'm sorry but a good NT does more than that

After missing the entire 2009 season with a torn right Achilles’ tendon, Kemoeatu has worked his weight down from a peak of 400 pounds to a somewhat viable 350 or so and is trying again to be the inside force that helped him anchor lines in Baltimore and Carolina.

“I’m not going to get back to that weight again,” Kemoeatu said. “It was just unhealthy. Playing in the NFL, you’ve got to be professional about it. Not just working out, but about eating, staying healthy and all that.”

But willpower at the dinner table is not Kemoeatu’s strong point. Or, as he put it: “I have a weakness — food.”

Okay guys, here's what I observed at Fan Fest today. Ron Edwards was down on the sideline with Fua. He was assisting Fua with this one on one warmup drill. Big Ron was acting as a pass blocking Oline with his hands extended out, while Fua worked on these (Karate Kid, wax on, wax off) chopping like moves.

What was interesting is that these chops were directly to the inside and outside of Edwards forearms, some hitting his biceps and coming very close to hitting his triceps as well. First off I didn't think Edwards would even be able to lift his arms after tearing his Triceps, let alone assist in a drill like this. It'll be interesting to see how serious his injury really is.

That is interesting. You wouldn't think he could even raise his arm without severe pain with a recent tear.

Was the arm wrapped?
