Rivera on the receivers besides Smith: "We've had nobody step up"

I have a schtick?

He hasn't looked great. Routes are not as crisp, he is not as fast. He looks good in the 7 on 7s because he is being covered by scrubs. Interested to see how he does with a legit shut down corner on him.

Like the Aso, Captain and Revis?

He has lost a step, at his age it's foolish to think that he hasn't.

WR's at his age rely on smarts, and knowledge of the game/scheme. I doubt he grasps the O yet, and he is probably having to think too much instead of react.

With time, I expect him to play better, but never be the SS most on this board think he still is.

To Steve Smiths defense he is getting old and is this his first week of practice because he didn't go to the players camp during the lockout?

AE might be getting some praise but probably not enough to be considered the #2 WR. Lets not forget he was buried in the depth chart at WR last year so an improvement for him means he could be considered a top 3 or 4 WR.

This is not good news though. WR was a weak spot for us last year and we must have an improvement if we want to succeed. I have high hopes for Pilares but it may take a few years for him to become a starter. I have a feeling that Gettis and Lafell slacked off because they think their spots will be given to them due to lack of talent at the position. I think the Naanee signing should give them some motivation in camp. If Naanee becomes our #2 wide reciever then I feel that it means Gettis and Lafell had a bad camp and it also will show us that our WR corps is very weak. Not taking anything away from Naanee in any way but Naane at best should be a #3 WR.

Clowney is having a great TC. The guy is a decent WR but wouldn't be anything more than a #5 WR or special teams guy on any other team. I also can't help but to ponder, has Clowney improved over the offseason this much or does our secondary suck this bad?

We have 13 Wide recievers in camp right now, only 6 will make the team. Smith, Gettis, LaFell and Naanee are pretty much guaranteed spots on the roster. I have a feeling that Edwards and Pilares are going to make the squad just because of the fact where we drafted them. I think Wallace Wright and David Clowney have a good chance of making the team due to the fact they can play special teams.

I would like to see Clowney make the team and he is having a great Training camp. If he keeps up the good work then he should be on the team. Wright will probably be cut, as well as Guy,Warren,Martin and Adams.

RR is probably concerned that all of our WRs except Smith don't know what route to run on any given play. Or if they do run the correct route, they might been running it poorly. This would cetainly cause RR to go out and pick up a WR who knows the offense and how to run the routes properly.

To compound the problem, both Cam and Jimmy are almost cetainly experiencing a 'sped up' effect where they're mentally trying to remember how the play is supposed to develope, but they're a beat behind what's actually happening. This will result in late throws, incorrect reads, sacs, ect. It takes 1 or 2 seasons before the game starts to slow down, and the QB can make the correct decision in live game speed.

i think we have a lot of talent at WR here now....at least a lot of potential talent. i don't know i there is a star in the making, but if we can do a good job of spreading the ball around and keep that running threat (including cam) alive, we don't necessarily need to have one.
