What would it take for Smith to get into the HOF?

An already injury prone RB putting up 1,000 yard seasons at the age of 35? That's not going to happen. There's never going to be an 'ironman' running back who plays at a high level for a long time the position takes too much of a toll on players bodies.

Thanks for all the feedback, yeah, I didn't think he had much of a chance either but like others have said the Panthers are just gonna have to honor him as much as possible when he does retire, he certainly had HOF talent. Someone else mentioned Beason as a possible HOFer and he has the talent too, however the medias love affair with Patrick Willis doesn't help Beason out much.

2 years of elite reciever productions. A superbowl, then to stick around for a year or two and be a 2nd option for a competative team. If the panthers become a championship threat for several years to come and Smith is a big part of the offense then he stands a better chance. I would almost the teams future success is a big part for his chances..

The lack of media coverage will hurt Beason other MLBs get way more press coverage. I was at the store last week and a woman was trying to buy a jersey, the salesman was trying to get her to buy a Williams jersey she saw a number 52 and asked "whose Beason" the salesman responded "he's a defensive player, he's alright but not all that good." I butted in and asked him if he was a big football fan and he said "the biggest."...sure ya are buddy

The woman left without buying a jersey (said she was going to wait for a Cam jersey because he "sexy as hell" and asked why they don't sell Panthers g-strings) but the point is we have to get some major press coverage for Beason to into the hall.

Ridiculous that "big " football fans don't know how good Beason is. I hate ignorant people that say they are football fans. He was voted a top 10 LB by the espn analysts and as high as 4th by several of themm. So there is no excuse for any football fan, even those morons that just follow manstream garbage like espn to not know how good he is. It really is just a lack of coverage I guess...seeing as people won't do their own research.

the recent scheme hasn't helped Beason all that much either......the Rivera era should help Beason's numbers/production.....not talking tackles but sacks/ff/etc.

How many LBs of Beason's caliber have played such a small role in blizting. His sack numbers are very weak.....Rivera will change that and people (media) love players who get to QBs.

exactly! i expect beason to make more game changing plays simply because of the new aggressive scheme(along with anderson & davis)

True, but if a reallty good hines ward who everyone says will make the Hall can, it should only take a ring to get smitty in.

Hines Ward will never make the Hall of Fame. If he does, the only thing that got him in would be the fact that he wore the Steelers' jersey.

Again, see: Cris Carter and Andre Reed.

Chris Carter too. Smitty has zero chance of making it even if he had 3 good years his body of work doesnt help. Randy Moss is the same he will never make it due to his work ethic and attitude. Not saying Smitty had a bad work ethic. HOF voters wont vote for someone who doesnt have a full body of work.

I can honestly say I can't tell if you were serious or not....hopefully, you weren't.
