What would it take for Smith to get into the HOF?

There's actually be a debate on all week on all the sports channel about whether Moss will get in first ballot or not. Most of the sports writers (who have votes) say that he won't get in first ballot, just to prove a point.

Then they are being petty. I don't like him as a person, but there is no denying he is one of the best in the history of the league.

as much as i love smitty hes not getting in. I now got my eyes on deangelo for the Hof.

Very possible but needs to play another 4 years.

John Kasay for Hall of Fame.

Wont happen Special teamers dont make the Hall of Fame

Hopefully the panthers retire his #89. He deserves that much.

They will and a statue.

Dwills not getting in either, not with spending a year on the bench, then splitting carries and injuries of late. Look at LT with how his career started that's what you need and even LT probably won't get in being injured and now taking a secondary role.

Wrong! Dwill's got another good 6 years left and if he puts up 1000 yards for the next 6 years he WILL get in

Smith doesn't have a shot as much as I love him and would love to see him in the hall of fame it will never happen. There are too many other receivers in his generation that have better numbers and more accolades. At this point all he has going for him is the triple crown and that's not enough. The best thing is for the Panthers to honor him as much as they can when he finally retires.

Currently the closet we have to getting a REAL Panther in the hall of fame (God rest his soul, he was a great player and great guy but Reggie White doesn't count to me) is Peppers. By the time he retires the majority of his career will more than likely have been spent with us. I see Pep getting in the HOF but not on the first ballot.

Kickers are extremely rare to make the HOF and while Kasay is awesome he's 18th on the all time extra point list, and 7th on the all time Field Goal list. Only one or two kickers a generation will get in the hall and I think that a guy like Carney or Viniterri will get the nod.

for smith to make it, cam-newton-to-steve-smith would have to become the 07 brady-to-moss, only for several years in a row. they would have to become unstoppably dominant, steve would need at LEAST one ring and national prominence, and at LEAST 13k yards by the time it's all over and done with.

i hope that happens but we all know the likelihood.

Williams keeping up 1000 yard seasons and around 10 TD's for the next few years, yeah, I'm sure he would get into the Hall of Fame. However, we're talking about Williams here. I see him getting injured a few more times in his career, missing games it is hard to achieve that.

I always envisioned Smitty would be the first wide receiver to break the 2,000 yard barrier. I believe he can still do it, but that depends if Cam can be a great QB within his first two years. If Smith does that, and have average seasons afterward, I'd say he's getting into the HOF.

an act of god

this isnt the hall of really really good players

take a look at the WRs they are mulling over right now....then add the wrs that will be eligible when he is done

maybe a 2000 yard season

True, but if a reallty good hines ward who everyone says will make the Hall can, it should only take a ring to get smitty in.
