Panthers sign WR Legedu Naane

This is what Charger fans from another just general football forum that I also post on are telling me.

Captain Awesome Panda

He's pretty good. Dealt with injury problems last year though. He can probably be a decent #2 and a great #3......Also got arrested twice last year though so the guy is kind of an idiot

He was a QB all his life until his sophomore year of college, he's still working out some kinks. But he certainly knows the game well, he's a big body, excellent blocker, but he certainly doesn't thrive under pressure, tended to drop balls on big play opportunities or third downs. A good player though nonetheless and still has room to grow.

Your right, we have plenty of WRs as far as depth is concerned, but Smith and Clowney were the only WRs on our squad that had more than one year of NFL experience, and i dont even think that clowney will make the team this year.

We didnt just need any old WR, but a good veteran WR that could come in and immediately compete for #2, and teaching the youngins' something while he was at it.

Given the inexperience at the position, the change of our offensive scheme is probably going to be tough on them.

A vet WR wasnt our biggest need, but was probably our #3 need after a CB and a DT.

+1

Plus, we got him cheap from what I heard in another post. :3 So it is a win-win situation, we have Ron Edwards at DT and I believe some rookie that I liked so I'm not worried about that as much, CB, did we pick someone up there? I dunno.

yes theres too many casuals here that are ignorant. i'm a student of the game and like this brotha

Oh, the irony!

Some of you need to stop intimating that Naane is more than he is. He is a cheap pick-up, near 28-year-old, journeyman back-up, slot receiver. He got all of 1 TD in 10 games last year, and a mere 371 yards. Naane adds tp our security blanket we're trying to weave for our young'nz (Cam Newton), and is here ONLY because of ties to our coaching staff. He isn't even a sure fire thing to make the final cut.

Get a grip! The guy got less yards in a damned good offense last year, with Phillip Rivers at the helm, than either Gettis or Lafell in an anemic offense led by Moore, Pickels and St. Pierre.

Stop trying to make a slice of Spam a damned 32 oz porterhouse steak because you had a can of potted meat last year!

Naanee > Wright because he has special teams abilities and experience as a WR. Naanee will be the fifth WR on the roster. If we keep 6, Pilares will be listed but mostly inactive. Smith will play #1, Getting relieved by Lafell or Gettis on occasion. Lafell or Gettis will also man the #2 spot. Edwards and Naanee will play the slot. Pilares will either make the team and not play (special teams possible), or he will be cut and placed on the PS. Naanee's size makes him a better option in the red zone when the team goes 3 WRs. Edwards will fill the slot (and catch punts) outside the 20 if he continues to impress.

And you know this how? Its what, the 5th day of camp?

Pilares is my guy. Really like him. I'm thinking Davone Bess 2.0.

Naane is solid. I've watched him play (had to sit through a lot of Chargers/Raiders/49ers games in the painful time I had to live in Cali) and his yards aren't impressive because he didn't play much outside of when Jackson wasn't playing. Floyd at least was still the #2 when Jackson came back. I still think the money could have been spent better elsewhere (obviously at CB) but of the WR FAs left, this guy is about as good as you could hope for. Floyd isn't going to be worth the contract he gets, probably. Even if he does sign cheapish, I think the FA WR pickup is more of a bandaid for this year's passing game anyway. Long term solution is expected to come from some of our young WRs. Don't need anyone that's gonna prevent them from getting experience.
