Mays is like an early Thomas Davis in that he has tried playing saftey and OLB. At USC he played safety and always loved to make the big hits. At times he gambled for those hits instead of wrapping up. I guess he considers himself a safety now.

I would love to do it if it isn't too costly. If we're modeling ourselves after Philly's defense, they always seem to be deep at DB... Wouldn't hurt.

The difference ofcourse being Davis can actually cover people. Even slot receivers and the most dangerous tightends. Mays is lost in coverage. A big hitter and work out freak, you can get away with it in college and look good, but more is expected in the NFL.

Gotcha. Agree he may do better at linebacker, as less would be asked of him coverage wise. But then again LB is one of the strengths on this team, so I can;t see us bringing him in to fill that role either

No, he can't play CB at all. Maybe one of our other safeties could but recent interviews with Rivera by Reed suggest that moving safeties to CB is not an option right now.
