8/4 Updates

Umm. passing game looked really good. Basically Jimmy checked down for two hours. Sounded like Cam had his best day but still had a few crazy inaccurate passes and one or two plays where he held the ball too long but also several really good passes down field. Burney made another play by planting Goody on his ass.

Olsen was fugging lights out by all accounts. Gonna be big time in this offense.

DA took no snaps at all.

Not sure what I missed. Anyone.

I assume Olsen is going to be a big part of what the Panthers plan on doing, especially since Chud is already so familiar with him.

Jimmy checking down is no big surprise.

And, I assume that's what we'll see from Cam for a while. Huge flashes of awesomeness followed by flashes of "uh, what?" moments. He's a rookie, but it seems like he's coming along at normal speed.

I actually just read on Twitter that his injury wasn't as bad as previously thought, per Rivera.

I wonder if Cam kept checking down like jimmy, and if jimmy threw 50yard TDs and scrambled for abother 50yard TD if some of you guys would be singing a different tune.... Some people just can't accept change nor give credit because their ego would be deflatted!

Cam's team or not is no reason not to hope Jimmy can do well. There's a decent chance that Jimmy will see the field this year and I'd like for us to do well in that period as well.

For those of you "worried" about Cam this year... don't be. As it has already been pointed out, many of the great QBs who played as rookies threw a good number of INTs their rookie years...

Why?

Because they can. It's that simple. When a guy has a rocket launcher for an arm, he's gonna make throws and take throws he shouldn't. As I've pointed out previously, a lot of people on this board we're laughing at the Bucs for taking Josh Freeman. And what did he do his rookie year against us? Throw 5 picks in a game... Came back his second year and had people taking notice of how great he was. But IIRC, that 5 pick game, they were still in it because he was making plays to the end, the picks were just forced throws that he was trying to make plays on.

So, if that's what we'll have to deal with, I'm fine with it... And that's what I expect. Part of what was so frustrating last year is that with the run game we have, WE NEEDED a threat of deep throws to open the field up... We didn't because Jimmy couldn't throw it deep, so it pretty much left us handicapped on offense.

If we're going to have the deep threat and have the capability to score a TD on any given play, I will gladly take the bad with the good, so long as he learns along the way, which he will.

We'll be fine. This will be a fun ride.
