Steve Smith ready to start fresh with Panthers

Yes. Jake was definitely Smitty's boy. Anyone remember when they mic'd Smitty up against the Eagles in 2009?

Smitty walked over to the bench, where Delhomme was hanging his head in shame to talk to him.

Jake said, "I'm sorry man."

Smitty: You're still my dawg, your just not that attractive, like me.

Or something close to the nature.

That game was a huge blowout and Smitty remained positive throughout the whole game. Although it could have been because he was playing it up for the Mic.

Look in this man's face. . .look closely because. . you will never see anything else like him when he's gone from the league. You will never see the explosion of passion, heart, skill, athleticism, and balls. Guys like that play great at all levels, but they also get hurt very badly very quickly and usually never return to the sport. You guys remember that when you played sports. Those animals just couldnt last. Too much emotion makes you do stupid and crazy things on or off the field.

Look at his face, study it. Thats one of the greatest players who will ever play the game and it will be our secret. The AP will never give him his due since they see him a certain way. Press members that vote for the HoF are ten times more stubborn then the critiques around here. They make these guys look like Dick Vitale at an All American game.

Youre gonna be outside at some cookout and Joe Blow rockin the $100 flip flops is gonna be talkin about how awesome Michael Irvin or Jerry Rice was. . . Neither of which ever made it to a Superbowl with a subpar QB and a coach that telegraphed every move he was going to make.

-Steve Smith, my man

dont need to say anything else, youre done. Take another sip of your drank n chill

it was literally AZ part II. Only Jake could play that and Smitty take it.....you know he felt bad for his friend. Smitty knew his friend shouldn't be the starting QB midway in....but Jake had earned respect. No one else on this roster has earned it. You play like that...you get what Jimmy got.

Tuesday at TC, after it ended, all the guys walked out at that far corner.

We were standing further down the field towards the hill behind the fence watching him talk to a couple coaches for about 10 mins. We figure he would just get up and walk off, but he immediately walked over and started signing autographs for people.

Even had a little bit of conversation with us, talked to me about my official playoffs growl towel I had him sign. He said "man, this old school". A couple of us in the crowd said things along the line of yeah, but we will be back there very soon and you will be a big part of it.

He said earlier he was sorry for being an ass and I think he's really making the effort to pay attention to the fans and get back on the right track with the team. I have a feeling he's going to have a very big season.

I have heard Steve make the comment that he won't sign an autograph for anyone over 5ft tall.

I see him in the grocery store all the time. I never walk up to any famous people though.

Niether do I. I used to wait on the players when I was still serving and I only would ever make 1 or 2 comments. Kalil is a super nice guy, so is Kenny Moore and Brad Hoover.

p.s. they can eat more chips and salsa than I have ever seen in my entire life.

Smith always starts off the year with the best of intentions. Lets see how long it lasts this time. He is always reflective in the offseason andat the beginning of the year. But his competitive fires end up interfering when things start to fall apart.

Just sayin................

I've seen Smitty catch a ball and take the hit breaking his arm week 16 when the team was 6-8 and going nowhere.

I don't worry about Smitty being a problem.

Everything you said has been true, but the fact remains that he is a top 5 WR in this league, and I am glad that he is with us.

No reason for us to hold our breath while we are waiting for him to become a positive role-model for the rest of the team. As long as he is trying his best to get along with everyone, that is all i can ask for.

I love Smitty as much as the next guy. But as of right now he's not a top 5 receiver. HE's still great, but just not top-5.

Out of curiosity, who is in the top 5? And, who is better then him that fits his height, weight, etc?

Just interested to who you have over him. =o

well, i say the top 5 are:

1 andre johnson

2 larry fitz

3 calvin johnson

4 santanio holmes

5 desean jackson

6-10 in no particular order:

steve smith

anquan boldin

ochocinco

roddy white

wes welker

K, I guess you're right. Although I'd still pick Smith over a lot of the other guys you mentioned, I love his swagger. :3 Also he has a drive that Moss didn't have at times during his career, and I believe Smith always does his best on the field. Haven't had the best QB's out on there with him for the past 2 seasons though. =(
