JR Addresses Accusations of Being Cheap

A little skin in the game always changes perspective. To me it is only aggravating when a PSL owner represents themselves as more important or their argument has more validity. As long as that line is not crossed they have a right to be angry for their own reasons. It is just a little difficult to not feel belittled by an owner sometimes without understanding their frustration and easy to label them elitest or entitled when in actuality their reasoning is just coming from another place altogether.

Give them a break as long as they don't come off with the whole "well I am a PSL owner so I have a right to be mad" bit. Yes they do but as a non PSL owner so do you.

I don't own a PSL, but I completely understand why a PSL owner has the right and should be mad. A ticket buyer has NO commitment to the team. A PSL owner is on the freaking hook and has invested in their appreciable asset. They have every right to be pissed. That's why Richardson wrote the damn letter.

How about this one. What is my lifetime investment going to be worth when we need a new stadium. Think I am going to be grandfathered in or are they going to need another 70 thousand people to pony up again. It isn't really a lifetime investment either although it was promised as such.

I really don't get your stance.

By your own admission you really could have done with the money, so why not start the process to sell the licence? In some ways, the Panthers are essentially at their height in media recognition and value so there is going to be an influx of new fans.

You don't believe in it as a lifetime guarantee and you judge its value on a year to year basis.

What is keeping you from selling it?

Honestly, and I mean this with all sincerity. I am not the moron in this exchange.

You are suggesting that PSL owners walk away from a $9000 seat right and walk to the back of the line to buy tickets like the average fan to avoid being strong armed into over priced tickets. That's moronic.

No, I said season ticket holders do that when they do not renew. Hence my previous statement.

true.. but you're still wrong. he gave Fox the option to leave.

I think he sold Fox a bill of goods and changed his tune in the winter of 2010. Why do I think that? They extended Diggs to a three year deal in February and cut him 3 months. Who does that unless there is change of plans between February and May?? Personally I believe that when Pepper's bailed they felt that they weren't going to win with the vets and went on a slash and burn mission. Speculative? Yes. But I think it is close to the truth. By June it was too late for Fox to bail as well and still get a headcoaching gig so he was stuck.

The point is Richardson should have fired Fox rather than leave him in a lame duck position....it's Richardson's team...not Foxes...Richardson is the one with the commitment to the PSL owner.....Wow.

Well yeah...but we are talking about apples and bananas....you told Panther55 to walk away from his $9000 seat right and get in line....now you're talking about JoePanther fan buying season tickets....you lost me...it's ok..I'm moving on.

Know anyone who is getting anything close to what they paid for PSls these days?? I am doing what people are doing with their houses, stocks and other valuables. Riding it out hoping for a rebound in the economy and the Panthers so when I sell I won't take a complete bath.

Then you leave yourself in this contractual situation with the new HC

One year deal - No one will agree to that

Two year deal - Whats the point considering the possible lockout

Three year deal - Need to make a decision in year two to keep them or walk into another 'lame duck' situation

Four year deal - Have to make a decision in year three, which is the year after the lockout, no chance to build up a core of players.

The only option was sinking into a long term 5 year+ deal.

I've said it before, but if he wanted Fox out, he needed to let him go after 2009, when we went 12-4.

I never told him to do that, you obviously have issues in reading and comprehension. I'll dumb it down from here on for you.

    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
    • In my dream, we somehow luck into a top 2 pick and someone wants a QB bad and doesn’t want anyone else to jump them. Somehow we’ll probably screw up the picks anyway, but it would be nice to do even partially what Chicago did to us. We’d have to lose out, which is a decent possibility unless Tampa is resting. We need Atlanta to stay within a game because Atlanta beat Tampa twice. The rest of the draft slots are who knows because Jax plays the Raiders and then Tennessee and you never know who will rest starters. I think we are top 7 unless we somehow pull out 2 more wins. The 4 win teams have higher SOS and there is only one 5 win team with the same SOS. If we win 1 of 3, we still should stay in top 7. If we lose out and the Jax games work for us, we can easily be top 3.
