I think it's pretty safe to assume he'll play.

a) He knows the offense.

b) He has played in a real game, unlike Guy or Pilares.

It's just surprising that people think he should be the #2 or #3 receiver when he hasn't proven anything in the NFL.

Since when is 23 catches 371 yards and a touchdown solid? Lafell and Gettis played better with the worst qb in the NFL trowing to them.

He benefited from great qb play same with Malcolm Floyd.

He started 9 games, and how many balls got thrown to him? Also, averaging 16 yards seems pretty good, neither Lafell or Gettis achieved that, oh look, neither did Smithy.

Question, why was Eric Norwood moved from LB onto the d-line? =o

A few reasons. He would be probably the 6th or 7th option at LB on this team. He lacks in coverage and excels in pass rushing. His size is a concern at de but hopefully can make up for it with his speed and strength. Plus he will benefit at the end spot with more blitzing coming from the lbr's or he could be a rushing lbr in a 3-4 type set if we do indeed create those types of packages.

Also, this move was determined last year so the coaching staff obviously didnt feel he was adequate at LB in that system, or just needed more de's since brown was hurt.

well, people had been penciling in Pilares as the #3 WR weeks before camp started.....most never watched him play a live snap on TV in college.

Injury could ultimately set the roster, as far as this season goes a lot of those guy are probably pretty comparble if just looking at the short term.

I cant even believe he got drafted with a scouting report that said : has hard time catching ball in open field and below average speed...... fml

I agree with you 100% on the offensive line. But a few things. Not a chance in the world that Pugh gets cut over Considine or Payne. I do not see both Hayden and Irvin making it over Neblett. I think Hartsock was brought into block since we have 2 catching TE so he will be here and I think some people are sleeping on Wallace Wright. He was given a multi-year deal last year and is a great Special Teamer. I think it will come down to Wright and Nannee for the last spot.

Didn't cut Pugh, just moved him to CB :D

had he played the whole season, his stats would have looked like this...

40 receptions, 659 yards, and probably 2 TDs

again, not all pro by any means, but considering that he had on average 7 other targets to compete with that isn't bad.

did he benefit from having a QB that didn't suck? well, yes, i suppose when the alternative is a QB that does suck. doesn't mean that he sucks without that QB, though. you can't say that a QB only does good with a great QB until you see that guy play with another QB. until then you don't have much to go on other than a baseless opinion.

you could say that gettis and lafell benefited by playing for a team that was so far behind in the 4th quarter and so unable to get into the endzone that defenses just quit trying so they sent in their backups.

gettis had 37 receptions. 22 of them came in the 2nd half. 15 in the 4th quarter. gettis got 252 of his 508 yards from the 4th and 2 of his 3 TDs from the 4th.

is that the only logical conclusion for the bulk of his numbers coming so late in the game? no, but neither is naanee's numbers being the result of having a great QB.
