Taharqa in Spartanburg

Only thing they asked me about was a black bandana I had folded up in my passenger seat (I used to wear bandanas with almost everything in my late teens, early twenties - and no I wasn't into gangs... and I now question how smart it was, but whatever, it was my style lol). But, anyway, one of the guys I worked with told me that Erwin only had 4 patrol cars at the time...

So basically you were breaking the law and had gang apparel in or around you and you were mad they searched you?

Got it

Didn't want to get into it here, but since everyone has shared their stories...

I used to work in a small rural town, Dunn, right outside of Fayetteville off 95 when I was like 19. To get there and drive back home I'd go through an even smaller town, Erwin... Anyway, one night, one of the cops was outside talking to my manager when me and my friends were getting off work. So, anyway, this John Wayne wannabe mf'er gets in his car and apparently left right behind me.

At the time, I didn't notice it, but I remembered his face, and thought he was still standing there talking to my manager when I went to leave. So, I was driving, and I get down this small road, the speed limit was like 35, and I turn on the road and slam my foot on the accelerator... I may have gotten up to 45 or 50... Can't remember now, it's been awhile.

Well, there was a car in front me already driving on this road and they were going faster than I was, but what do you know? I look up and see bright lights in the rearview and then the blues and reds...

It was the same cop that was standing outside talking to my manager... He walks up and asks for my license and registration. I give it to him and he says they pulled me over for "gunning it" when I turned onto that road. In my mind, I was just getting up to speed (and then over it lol), but I was just moving with the flow of traffic being that the car in front of me was doing the same speed... Yet, I got pulled over.

So, as I'm talking to the officer, he asks if I've been drinking. Umm, NO. He just saw me leave work 5 minutes before. I told him no, I hadn't drunk anything, and I've never had a drink in my life - truth. He's all like "Naaahh, I smell alcohol. I'm gonna need you to step out of the car." So, by this time, this mf'er has the entire Erwin police force on the side of the road with him - 4 cars! 4 cars! All around me. And IIRC, they reached in my car window and started going through my stuff in my passenger seat as I was still in the car... I step out and they ask to pat me down, and I'm like, okay...

They start searching the car, and one cop comes over and tells me I need to go sit in the car and take a breathalyzer test b/c e smells alcohol on me. So, I'm like calm and cooperating, but I'm starting to get irritated. I go sit in the car, I do the test, and of course he's looking like a jackass and is like "I could've sworn I smelt alcohol on you! You sure you haven't drunk anything tonight? Anything in your car?"

Meanwhile, they kept searching my car... Of course, found nothing (I've never tried drugs or alcohol, just as an aside)... I get back out of the car and the 3 or 4 other officers who've been standing around watching with their cars walk up, and one asks "mind if I search you again?" At this point, I'm thinking "WTF is going on? But, just be cooperative, they'll feel like douches in the end..." So, I tell him "sure, whatever, I don't have anything on me, and I've already been patted down, but if you have to..."

So, he pats me down again... Meanwhile, another one of the cops, not the first one that searched the car, walks up and asks to search the car again, so I tell him yeah... So the cop that just patted me down for the second time while the wothers watched with their arms folded, asks "So, how are you doing tonight?" I reply, "I was doing great until this..."

Looking back, I wonder if they were trying to bait me into popping off at the mouth so they could beat the sh*t out of me. So, I'm glad I played it the way I did. I also acknowledge that I KNOW the way I dressed had something to do with them pulling me over, if not outright stalking me. If I would've known my rights at the time, I would've told them they couldn't search my car and refused the breathalyzer just to make them waste more of their time.

And I had something similar happen 2 to 3 other times around this same period.

Anyway, just thought I would share...

I'm from Fayetteville, so I feel your pain dawg! Too many stories to even count!

How'd I know you would chime in on that...

I was speeding, yes, breaking the law. What a badass! The car in front me was speeding as well. With 4 cars, and at least 2 in the immediate vicinity where it happened, they could've gotten that guy as well.

And they wouldn't have known that bandana was in my car had they not started searching it for NO reason.

If I would've been leaving work in a pair of jorts, work boots, and a flannel shirt with the sleeves cut off, with that same bandana on, I guarantee you I wouldn't have gotten pulled over.

The point is, they followed me for NO reason. I sped, that was my violation... Great. But, to be searched/patted down twice, have my car searched twice, asked to sit in a patrol car to do a breathalyzer test despite never having even tried alcohol in my life, and then having something similar happen again later... Yeah, nothing wrong with that... Just police utilizing tax payers dollars in the most efficient and effective manner possible.

Of course you knew what was wrong with it anyway, but whatever.

True story:

Back in college (and just after learning about the rights you have when a cop wants to search your car actually), I was pulled over by a cop because of a broken taillight. He randomly demanded to search my vehicle in one of those FEAR ME I AM MIGHTY POLICEMAN tones, so I told him he could search all of my vehicle except for my glove compartment. So of course he then HAD to search the glove compartment, but I told him he couldn't without a warrant. So the guy actually took the time to get a search warrant authorized by a judge at 2am so he could search my glove compartment. When he opened it...there was nothing there. I did it just to screw with the guy. He was pissed and threatened to arrest me for "wasting his f'ing time" but then finally let me go.

WHOAMG I used to live in Dunn Prouddiddy! What a horrible little town lol.

LOL, you ain't lying man... I never went there for anything until that job. The only good thing I can say about it is I met my wife while I was there, but other than that, yeah, I avoided it at all costs.

what is the topic? those lame ass pics of he crowd that were preceded by a story of how the contributor was profiled by law enforcement?

Gimme a break. This thread is worthless if you are not flaming on cops, flaming on the douchebag OP, or gladhanding some other poster who you agree with.

For someone who wasnt there you sure sound angry about the situation. Did I step out of my place detailing my day in Spartanburg? Im a douchebag? What exactly have you contributed to this thread? Posted any pics from camp? When you take things so personally and get furious it makes you look guilty. No need for name calling, were all Panther fans
