If Clausen starts and does well, will you boo him anyway?

Hate to say it, but this phenomena is the same one Atlanta had a few years back. A lot of folks were Vick fans more than they were Falcon fans. We have the same thing going on here.

Guaranteed that if Jimmy is named starter, he will be booed upon each incompletion and there will be "we want Cam" chants from the crowd. And face it, we will not go from 2-14 to 14-2 in one season, especially with all the changes we are experiencing and the lack of OTA's.

Mark it down.

I could see that as well......another reason if Cam isn't ready Anderson would most likely start for a week or two. Would be another (of many) simialrties between him and Carr.....he might need to be protected from the home crowd.

we could go from 2-14 to 8-8 overnight though

I'm even more satisfied with the coaching staff. Calling plays Clausen is comfortable with? Letting Cam do what he does? We actually have staff that can make adjustments on their end to get the most out of what they have? BRILLIANT! [/GUINESS]

defenses will eat us for lunch again...if they only call what Clausen likes to do.

I still think odds heavily favor Clausen getting similar plays to Cam.....Clausen opts for the shorter routes in the play and Cam wants the big one. We saw last year Clausen could hit short routes all day....especially early on in camp and preseason. Until it is confirmed otherwise, that seems the most logical.

Doesn't sound like Clausen is being pushed to improve.

I think it is a little silly and dramatic to assume that they won't challenge him to send a few deep in games, and that he will fail miserably a majority of the time. While Cam definitely has a more dynamic upside, this is still only Clausen's second season. Armanti was atrocious last season and look how he has bounced back. Who is to say that Clausen is incapable of the same?

I have faith that the coaching staff will do what is best for the team until it is time for Cam to play, because that is the inevitable.

While I hate everything that Clausen stands for as a person and think he is a terrible football player, if he wins the job in camp, I will not boo, as I have never booed an athlete.

I think he limits our team in terms of our ability to win games and think Cam will give us a better chance to win, I will support either decision.

I think it's a slim chance he starts and I think he'll end up being 3rd string.

How the hell do you learn anything sitting on the sidelines?

He might learn what not to do if Clausen is starting...but the whole "sit and learn" thing makes no sense to me at all.

You drafted the man number one overall...what would be difference in "sitting and learning" from a couch somewhere?

How does not being in game speed and not seeing how things work by your own account "learning".

Get him in the damn game!

Ask Rogers how being a backup and developing worked out for him.

Not saying that Cam is or is not ready to start this season. But to make naive and ill-informed comments like you just did shows that you are either 10 years old or know absolutely nothing about player development in the NFL.

well, 3 days into camp and Clausen is still just looking 10 yards downfield....holding on too long and throwing out of bounds.....per beat writers.

So if all he is doing in camp is the stuff that made him such a bad QB.....how is that pushing him to improve?

Armanti was a QB who wasn't in WR shape and run like a dog all preseason.......on top of learning two new positions. Can't really compare that w/ Jimmy. But if you must, Armanti per reports looks like a different player.....Jimmy sounds like the same.

Now just hold it right there mister......

You know there is no place for logic and unbiased observation in a thread about the Panthers QB situation.

We will have none of that here.:coolgleamA:

still expecting Anderson to be named the Game #1 starter. His vet experience and knowledge of the system is likely to put him significantly ahead of both Cam and Jimmy.

don't know how long he keeps it....but I fully expect him to be the starter at the beg of the season.

Correlation does not mean Causation.

He might have done just as well had he been given a chance to play. Favre was known for not wanting to deal with "mentoring" younger guys so you never know.
