Cam's accuracy

Watching games. If you take the completions/attempts argument to anyone in the league they are going to laugh you out of the building.

It's one of those things you can't put on a stat sheet

Can we at least agree as a board to not debate accuracy until we have game tape/stats to work with?

Guys... guys... Ws and Ls are stats too. Clearly we should disregard Wins and Losses as to who is the best team in the NFL.

So lets all just ignore this STAT, and we can watch how the teams play. Then we can determine who is playing better, as long as we all agree that we see the same thing!

Does that work ok for you all?

fug... for that matter... why pay attention the SCORING either? It's a stat.... you can't tell who is a better team from that either I'm guessing. Maybe we should just watch how the team plays... and then we can see who's better!!!!11

we have tape of cam in college, and his progression through a season in college. we have seen him at a private workout (or not all of us, but at least one of us here), seen him at the combine, at his pro day. through it all, he has had accuracy issues. he has accuracy issues in camp. has he improved? sounds as if he has by a little anyway. we'll have a better idea after preseason games start.

we've also seen plenty to be excited about. but he's not perfect... not yet, anyhow.

so tell me, who was the best team in the NFL? What was their record?

the reality is that the team with the best W/L record isn't always the best team in the league once all is said and done. Certainly there is a relation between being a good team and having more wins (duh), but to say the team that wins the most games is the best is incorrect. Certain games sometimes just mean more than others.

In a way, this is similar to how completion percentage is not the same as accuracy... often related, but not identical stats. But really, making a comparison between the two ideas is bad - accuracy relates to the quarterback specifically, while wins/losses relate to a team game, just like completion percentage has to do with more than just the quarterback.

Cam is working on his accuracy issues - if they didn't exist, he wouldn't be trying to address them. Doesn't mean he's a failure, doesn't mean we wasted the pick, but he's not perfect. This coaching staff selected him for what they feel he will bring to this team down the line, not just in training camp.

Green Bay was a tie breaker away to missing out on the playoffs and Tampa taking the spot.
