According to PFT, the Panthers are over the cap (by a little)

because you're understanding the term wrong.. it's about noobs to football, not the forum.

exactly, 10000X the point.. ;)

obviously "YOU" WERE WRONG...

:D

Cool with me. Just wanted to point that out.

On another note, the Raiders should have serious concerns. They lost Namdi, if I spelled that right, and they are still over the cap. Not sure what they paid him but how in the hell are the Eagles still under cap?

Also, without reading this thread through, I have to say that all we would have to do is offer Kalil a long-term contract, and give him somewhere around $9m instead of the 11+ he's making now, and we'll be under the cap.

So would you rather have a CB on the level of Asante Samuel or would you rather have Deangelo Williams who will only get about 8-12 carries a game? What a waste of money, and i love DWill. But too pay that much when we have Stewart, Goody, Sutton is just so so stupid, and it cant be denied. Now i hope Deangelo has his 1500 yard 20 TD season again so that im proven wrong, or were all going to be cursing watching Brees, Ryan, Freeman and Co. throw all over us...

valid point.

it's over now though.. they'll figure something out.

I think it comes down to---its what they wanted. If they wanted an 'Asante Samuel' they would have went a different direction by offering D.Will less or moving on completely. But they didn't. They have a plan, do I agree with it, no, not all of it. But I don't coach in the NFL or run a team.

So would you rather have a CB on the level of Asante Samuel who is not that great in zone and will be throw at maybe 5 or 6 times a game or would you rather have Deangelo Williams who will get about 10-15 carries a game? What a waste of money, and I love Asante. Given that we never have a running back who starts all 16 games for us, I can understand why we paid so much for Williams. Now i hope Deangelo has his 1500 yard 20 TD season again. In the meantime with Brees, Ryan, Freeman and Co. throwing alot we do have to address the CB spot. I hope we can do it internally or at a better discount than spending for Samuel who could be wasted in a zone scheme....

Fixed it for you, LOL.

i wouldn't be surprised if the source was right, but i'm going to wait a while before i trust any reports. things are too much in flux at the moment.

once the NFLPA gets ratified, on their website they will have all of the cap numbers. right now they don't have the website working.

Panthers apparent philosophy: Pay over market value for the guys who give them warm fuzzies.

in recent years see Jake's contract after 2009 debacle no less, see Jordan Gross contract....now CJ and Dwill which they overpaid both eating up cap space.

lol it's just amazing. we go from having the 2nd most cap space in the league (2nd to only the bucs) to being over the cap and we only added a minimum of new talent, still have glaring holes and a lack of depth at numerous positions. lol and people call this sh*t a success

look at the eagles added a HUGE amount of new talent and are still under the cap and if they ship out asante and get vick to agree to a long term deal they'll be WAY under
