No, a signing bonus is additional guaranteed money that is spread out through the life of the contract. Im not sure if its spread evenly but it sure isnt paid all at one time or it would defeat the purpose.

Signing bonuses are usually paid up front, and then their cap hit is pro-rated throughout the life of the contract.

I'm pretty sure a signing bonus is paid in full at the time of the deal. It's cap hit though is spread across the contract. That's why when we cut a player their cap hit increases...

So would you rather have a CB on the level of Asante Samuel or would you rather have Deangelo Williams who will only get about 8-12 carries a game? What a waste of money, and i love DWill. But too pay that much when we have Stewart, Goody, Sutton is just so so stupid, and it cant be denied.
