Reporter Rumor: Panthers Interested in Malcom Floyd

Floyd is a downfield threat. He said to be asking close to $5 million per year, but let's say he settles for $3 mil. That buys us a guy who was only healthy enough to play in 11 games, yet produced 717 yards and 6 TD's catching balls from Philip Rivers in a contract year.

Gettis, a downfield threat, gained 503 yards and scored 3 TD's catching balls from Clausen and friends in his rookie year. His cost this year? $405K.

Someone explain why we'd want this?

He's a name player, that's pretty much it.

Smith, Floyd, Gettis, LaFell, Edwards, Pilares, Guy....can we have 7 guys?

Most likely no. I would hate to cut Pilares, Trent Guy, or Charley Martin just to bring a big name for a year or two.

Pilares wouldn't be that big of a cut, but I really like Trent Guy and Martin as they can be good special teamers as well.
