Truly speaking - how much of last year's inept play was due to John Fox?

I think our problems last year were three-fold: coaching, QB, and injuries.

Fox's biggest issue as a coach is that he's too stubborn to change, even when it's clear a change is needed. He was trying to coach the team like he had a bunch of veterans rather than adapting to the younger players he had.

It's no wonder Jerry said he wanted a coaching staff that could teach, because this was something Fox's staffs were awful at. If a guy couldn't play from day one he didn't have a chance on a Fox-coached team because for some reason Fox considered himself and his staff above coaching the basics.

Our offensive staff was one of the worst ever assembled. Rip Scherer at QB coach? His claim to fame before being hired here was that he 'developed' Brady Quinn & Derek Anderson in Cleveland. Jeff Davidson was basically just a puppet to Fox and blindly accepted his ultra-conservative scheme.

And then there's the scheme first mentality that Fox always took. Always trying to fit square pegs into round holes simply because that was the system. What I like about River and his staff so far is that they seem to want to find out what players do well and tweak the schemes to take advantage of that. Fox never did this here and that was a huge problem.
