Are you telling me that making mock draft's on here, talking about un releastic trades, and signing every fa known to man will make the front office do it? Welcome its called a forum.

Please show me where I said any of that. Otherwise STFU :D

You can't say we overpaid for a player until after you see how he actually plays. For example did Chicago overpay for Pepper's?? If he gets 3 sacks this year then the answer is yes. If he gets 15 sacks, then definitely no.

The same applies for Johnson. We paid him roughly 14 million per year. Is that too much?? If he gets 10 sacks this year and 40 tackles then perhaps we did. If he gets 15 sacks and 55 tackles, then I would say no. You can say that we made him one of the top 5 DEs in the game salary wise but if he plays like a top 5 DE then we paid him commensurate with his performance.

The same goes for Williams. If he puts up Steven Jackson numbers then we paid him fairly. If he puts up Cadillac Williams numbers then we overpaid him.

Basing it on what someone paid another player a year or two ago isn't necessarily appropriate unless you compare price versus performance.

Does that mean Williams is overpaid or Jamaal Charles overdelivered for what he is getting paid?

Based on last year's lockout lots of guys settled for money that based on this year makes them significantly underpaid. I am not sure that makes Wiliams overpaid if that is what the market is bringing this year.

Paying money to keep one of the better (and younger) pass rusherrs is NOT overpaying. Amazes me, how many fans have no idea when it comes to contracts and value in the NFL.

Not only do we have fans bitching about over paying, we have fans defending over paying, when we payed the value of the position/production.

Everyone just needs to get over it.

We set the market, so we really don't know if we overpaid or not as it sits on paper now.

He wanted to retain the core, which he did, still signed several FA's, traded for Olsen and we're not done yet.

I REALLY don't see what there is to complain about.

I agree. There's nothing to complain about. Panthers probably "overpaid" for Williams given what statistics say about RBs expiration dates, but I still like the move, and think it says alot about the way the organization intends to treat its core players. And he may well have another 4-5 outstanding years left. He's certainly not done.

The Charles Johnson signing is correct as well, in my view. Who knows, maybe he goes Albert Haynsworth, but I doubt it, and would hope our front office got a pretty good look at his psychology before the signing.

Charles Johnson was a gamble, but a good one I think.

Now giving a 28 year old RB with a serious injury history a huge long term contract with a starter caliber back on the roster is not too bright.

Giving an undersized backer who's value is predicated on speed a 5 year deal after he's blown out two ACL's? Delhomme extension-esqe.

Well...I hear you. But what is the guaranteed on those contracts?

I'm actually asking, I don't know.
