I'm realistic also, but you never know what's going to happen when the season starts.

If Gettis/LaFell/Olsen/Shockey and Smith are utilized along with our run game. I can also see 10 wins as a possibility. We have the pieces, it's all about "Will we utilize them"?

If we totally abandon most aspects of the passing game, like we seemed to do for the better part of last season. I can see us winning at most, 5 games.

The optimism in me though, is Olsen and Shockey in 2 TE sets, with Gettis and Smith streaking down the sidelines and our qb, whoever it is, is actually able find success with it.

As requested... my very basic explanation of how 7-10 wins is realistic

1 Sep 11 CAR @ ARI W--- I think that Our offense has too much for their D without DRC... Their offense will be potent as well, but I think our D gets it done

2 Sep 18 GB @ CAR L--- GB just too much for us this early in the year

3 Sep 25 JAC @ CAR W--- We pretty much own Jacksonville

4 Oct 02 CAR @ CHI W--- Jay Cutler... that is all....

5 Oct 09 NO @ CAR L---- honestly I think it's a toss up, but I say NO pulls it out

6 Oct 16 CAR @ ATL L---- We may get smacked

7 Oct 23 WAS @ CAR W--- Washington has no idea what the fug is going on right now

8 Oct 30 MIN @ CAR W--- another toss up.... this could go either way on paper

9 Bye--- thankfully a week to get healthy

it will be easy to rip this post especially since there's no way to tell injuries in the future. But this would be my assessment of what we can do this year based on the talent and new coaching staff... our Defense will be 65% more aggressive as per Beason...

I think we COULD win more than 10 games... I dont think that it's that crazy of an idea. Yeah if Cam comes out and busts I'll look dumb as hell... If he comes out better than we ALL HOPE, then I'll still look dumb. I dont care either way... this is plausible...

Edit: this is assuming we are healthy of course...meaning all of our major players play every week. This goes out the window if say a Smitty or Newton or Beason /Gamble gets hurt

By that rationale, we should technically have a winning season. There are lots of stupid people in the NFL. We'll just keep bumping up two games for each stupid person. Our record will be 1,522-0.

Maybe it is me but the whole "how many wins" fight in this thread seems pretty premature. We don't even know who will start and we have 4 preseason games to look at the offense and defense. I know there will be a ton of these threads in August but to go on for pages back and forth seems a waste of time for now.

It definitely is premature. I just couldn't believe that people in this fan base really believed that's all we're capable of winning... They talked about progress and all this crap... 5 wins with this talent would be an utter failure. That was my whole point.

I agree 100% with your post... but I think we can get more than 5... if we don't we had serious injuries this year.

I think we are all miss understanding one another here...

some people are saying what they think, based off of last year would be progress...

others are predicting wins based off of talent on the roster... it's really two different things that we're talking about here.
