Practice 8/2

Cam looked really good when no pressure was on, but the big man got happy feet in 11-on-11. He has a cannon, for sure, but I'm not sure he's going to have the speed of the game down by the time the regular season starts.

probably won't....not sure any rookie, even the good ones, have the speed down early.

Just got back from practice...grabbing some lunch before getting home. Honestly, I mostly focused on the QBs with postional drills and STs consuming the majortiy of practice.

If anyone wants my take, just let me know.

Did Clausen look as bad today as it sounds?

I just don't think it realistic to expect him to be ready to start but him heap big man.

Cam looked cool as a cumcumber when it was just WR drills one-on-one with a single DB. Admittedly, he was killing it maybe with maybe one incompletion. I could tell, though, he was uncomfortable in the 11-on-11 being very fidgitty, happy feet and missing throws he was nailing earlier.

Everette brown has hardly looked bad enuff to be released. some of you jump to conclusions about brown because he was getting beat by jeff otah in the first week of practice? News flash most of the defensive ends in the league would get pushed around by otah. At the end of the season brown showed alot of promise. he should atleast play out his rookie contract.

Early, yeah, he looked average...horrible is a bit overblown. He was targeting Smitty too much and it seems that they just don't have that bond...don't know if they ever will. The throw that Jimmy consistantly missed was the comeback route on the sidelines. I couldn't tell if it was Jimmy, the WR or a combination of both.

All in all I say the two did well today, but in different areas. As mention Clausen struggled with the sideline comeback and Newton needs to work on keeping the ball down and not leading the WR so much. Clausen needs to treat positional drills the same as 11-on-11's. He tends to go though the motions and not play at game speed. His passes were lazy early on and got crisper as the practice drew on. Those first few passes are I guess what people were refering to as horrible.
