Gettis & LaFell: Keys to Success

With all the recent talk about the receivers we could bring in, let's discuss who we currently know will be playing a lot this season: Gettis & LaFell

We saw minor dosages of awesome in Gettis especially last year and also the rookie speedbumps. Now I've personally learned to be cautious with receivers that seem like there gonna be something after their rookie season. You know the names...but I have to get it out about these two wideouts:

Now I'm personally looking at David Gettis as a potential star in the making.

David's already shown he hasn't lost a beat in TC so far and looking back at some dvr from last year, he honestly showed more than Colbert or Carter ever did. I'm putting a lot of faith in him, but I think with the supporting cast in Olsen, Smith, Shockey, the O-line, & Triple Trouble, Gettis and of course Newton are the most vital assets to major offensive success and fast. If these two can develop strong chemistry on the field, it could be the key that unlocks a lethal offense. Gettis is fast, tall, and has above average strength for a receiver. He is built and has the athleticism to be a top receiver in this league...same with Newton at QB.

I'm honestly thinking he could be our #1 by the beginning of next season. Them developing a chemistry is essential imo.

Then you have LaFell who I think will prove to grow more consistent down the road, but his process may take a little longer. He may have more growing pains than Gettis, but he no doubt could be a great compliment.

Now putting all of this crazy optimism aside, can it happen? What is a realistic time frame in your mind that this can come into fruition? I believe if we don't sign a FA wideout, Rivera, Hurney, & Chud are telling us that it will happen at a greater rate than we think.

Let's discuss these two and their true potential...what say you?

LaFell to me looks like much more of a sure thing than Gettis. Ill change my opinion when I see Blankman starts catching the ball with his hands. He's doing very well but he's not at LaFell's level of skill. Lots of potential there and more speed, but LaFell would be better suited to at least claim that he could be a #1 next year.

What horrid music in that highlight video

just aweful

Lafell is gonna surprise those blinded by their love of Gettis. I like them both, but i've noticed that quite a few people underestimate Lafells ability. Nonetheless, this team has a bright future!

Razey: LaFell going that higher than Gettis in the draft says something and I see where you're coming from...but I really think Gettis has shown some major play maker skills in him. LaFell reminds me a lot like Moose who worked great as a number 1 at times but also could step into a lesser role to spread the field and let guys like Smitty blow up. Moose & Brandon are even similar physically being 6-2 ~215

Gettis' combination of size, speed, and strength compliment LaFell's abilities and would prove to make more big plays imo. Even though he's only an inch taller, they play differently and their strengths could pair into a lethal combo

Put Gettis on that jugs machine and let me see balls sticking to his hands then tho mang. Love the Blankman, Beach, but he has to learn how to catch with his hands and there may be an adjustment period where he begins to try to do that with poor results (I hope not). Right now LaFell is more agile and has better hands, plus he knows the spot a lil better to the point where he can play 1 2 or 3 (in the slot).
