Seth McConnell: Four Moves the Panthers Should Make

Recommended Posts

Yeah We got the Vet mentor. I wouldnt mind having Malcom Floyd and a CB now.

We got the vet good ole boy bud of our OC.

Mentor isn't exactly someone I would call with these stats:

Attempts - 1,436

Completions - 756

Compl. % - 52.6

Yrds - 9,148

TD - 53

Int - 55

Rating - 68.8

I'd almost rather have Weinke come out of retirement and put on pads to hold a clipboard. Could probably pay him less.

i'd like floyd, but bringing in another WR isn't really necessary, imo. i think they feel really good about the receiving options they have. they have enough solid targets in smith, olsen, shockey, and the RBs, plus they have a lot of young and promissing talent in gettis and lafell, plus it seems like armanti is performing at a whole other level than he was before. then they've got the guys they brought in this year. i'm willing to stick with the guys we have currently.

biggest need without a doubt is CB, but i think we'll get that taken care of soon enough.

at DT they probably want to stick with the guys they have right now to see who among them can rise to the top. there is a reason they have 8 DTs on the roster right now. they are hoping that they can find what they need in house and they'll use a few days of TC to see what they are capable of.

really just a matter of waiting to see what things look like. i don't expect them to do much more at all.

I would love malcom floyd but there are more pressing needs. In this order i think we need a CB>>>>DT>>>>WR or DE. If we still had money for a player the caliber of malcom floyd after picking up Carlos Rodgers and DT, then I am all for it, but at this point I think he would just be a luxury.

Tommie Harris, meh. Would be very intrested if we gave him an incentive laden deal, where if he is injured a lot, or plays poorly he gets what is considered an avg DT salary. But have certain incentives that can get quite a bit more money. l have no problem paying him 6-7 mil a year if he can get back to playing like he did his first 5 seasons.

No need at all for a WR, remember guys we have a real TE now. If anything a CB is needed and that is about it. Dt is shaky but we drafted 2 tackles and we should see what we have with that plus the fatass vet that will be able to hold back the run.

I disagree with 2 of the 4 and generally try to avoid crappy blogs.

Rivera is a D guru who knows Harris, if he hasn't even been brought in for a visit there are good reasons why.

As I said in another thread, I really don't see the need for another WR with the three youngs we added last year and the two we added this year, especially considering we actually have decent TE's now.

I don't doubt him as a WR, my point is only that we have a stable of young, talented guys who would never see the field if we keep signing vets. Young guys are also a lot more cap friendly AND we're not short of talent on the offense right now.

I wouldn't be upset if we signed him by any means, I just think we have our own Floyd in Gettis.
